Better go broke rather than borrowing and living in debt.

I honor my parents alot. I do my best, and I try to listen to them. they have taught us many things that have helped us and are still helping us in life. One of their principles is: be content with what you have - don't go borrowing (or at least try as much as possible not to).

Some are debtors already. The money they make today already belongs to the people that they borrowed from. So, when such salaries come, these debtors are not happy at all. They already know that someone is already waiting to have that money.

I know christians should assist one another. This is biblical. However, never make borrowing a habit. Don't be a debtor.

But, how right are my parents? Should someone really perish in want and lack and not go borrowing?

I am content with what I have. I'm not parading complacency.

I try as much as possible to overcome lack or want.

Psalms 35:27

God did not design the Kingdom of God so that you continue to exist in debt, lack, sickness, or fear.
You are to realize your position in the family of God which gives you access to all God has, all God is, and all that God can do.
You are a joint heir with the Lord Jesus Christ, and its the Lord who "giveth the power to get Wealth"..Deut 8:18 and you are to use this for your needs and for the purpose of doing God's will upon the earth, in your life.

You have the power of God in you, and you have the God given authority to execute the will of God through you by obedience and faith.
Your faith is the access key to God's provision, and your faith is to be built upon the KNOWLEDGE of just who you are in the family of God.
You are a Saint, a Son, a "joint heir" with Christ, and its the very God of all creation who lives inside you.
You are ONE with Jesus The Christ and his Father.
You have divine access, by right of spiritual new birth, to all the weapons of our spiritual and earthly warfare, and these weapons are mighty and unstoppable through the Living Christ who is in you.

You are a child of the King of Glory, a Son of the Most High and a "joint heir" with the living Christ.
You are to recognize this position of redeemed Sonship authority within the mighty Kingdom of God regarding the rights of provision found therein, which are promised you so that you are able to execute for your heavenly Father his will upon the earth.
Your Faith is to be activated, energized, and empowered into the service of God Almighty by the knowledge of who you are "in Christ".
Faith is a literal substance....Its the power of righteous change which is to be used as a divine tool of conviction, restoration, and light, by all believers to defeat and undo the destructive works of Satan where-ever they are found on behalf of Father God and according to his purposed will "in Christ".

I think in terms of borrowing for unnecessary luxuries, if you cant afford it today you are gambling that tommorrow is going to have money in excess to pay it off.

What if tomorrow is leaner? Then you have your original debt plus interest as well for your luxury that is either spent or losing its value.

If you borrowed off a friend you may still have your original debt and one less friend.

Getting on top of debt helps lots with poverty. Here I am talking in terms of social security or a low paid job.

If you are starving..whatever it takes to eat.

We put a lot of things into the "necessity" column that aren't.

Generally, the idea is to save enough to carry through rough times. But i have a friend who's been carrying through for three years. It can be tough.
