4. Explain what we learn from this passage regarding:

The Word in creation (vv.1-5)

The Word in history (vv. 6-13)

The Word in incarnation (vv. 14-18)

1-5 Jesus, the Word, created "all things".

6-13 Jesus, the Word, is the source of "life" for all men, it shines in the darkness of men, and cannot be put out, ever! Jesus, the Word and the Light, was the Life and Light for man's Salvation.

14-18 Jesus, the Word, Who was with God in the beginning, came to the earth. He became God/man, the perfect sacrifice.

Jesus was from the beginning
Jesus is the center of all history

Joh 1:14 And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.

Glory not as we see glory or the Jews of that day saw glory but glory from above.

1-5 is the Deity of Christ having existence before coming to Earth in the form of man as he always was and will always be.

6-13 John being the forerunner of the Light (Christ) and even though Christ was in the world he was still rejected by many, but yet those who accepted Him they became sons of God through the power of Christ

14-18 The word that always was is now made flesh to walk amongst us in Gods full grace and truth
