When I heard this news I immediately thought of this thread. It really bites for TCU and BSU to be shut out like they have been. On top of it all, they faced each other LAST year in the Poinsettia Bowl. Once again, the BCS fails big time.
With this set up, it's a lose-lose situation for the WAC (mainly just BSU) and MWC (Utah, TCU, and maybe some day BYU). Two non-automatic qualifying teams break into the system for the first time. Instead of letting the two non-AQ teams from two separate conferences prove the farce that the BCS is by letting them play the "big" boys, they just shove them over into their own little corner. No matter who wins, there will not be any leverage against the BCS for either conference. It's a shame.
I think we have my University of Utah Utes to thank for this, though. After embarrassing Alabama last year in the Sugar Bowl, the BCS will do whatever they can to avoid having anything like that happen again. Even if Texas had lost this weekend, they would have found some way to make sure that BSU and TCU would not be in the "National Championship" Bowl.
