I ACCEPT THAT WE SHALL NOT AGREE...AND I HONESTLY CONSIDER THE PRETERIST VIEW HERETICAL. SORRY...THAT'S THE WAY IT IS WITH ME.

I used to believe what you believe, except I was more post-trib. I wasn't that worried about it actually. Whenever it happened, it happened.

Last year after seeing some discussions regarding "preterism" and doing some study, I came to believe that it is most likely the case. I can't go the full-preterist route because there are some unanswered questions, although, they do have some good arguments for their case (of course there are equally good arguments against also, lol). Personally I believe that the marriage of the Lamb happened already per Matthew 22.

Mat 22:2 The kingdom of heaven is likened unto a certain king, who made a marriage feast for his son,
Mat 22:3 and sent forth his servants to call them that were bidden to the marriage feast: and they would not come.
Mat 22:4 Again he sent forth other servants, saying, Tell them that are bidden, Behold, I have made ready my dinner; my oxen and my fatlings are killed, and all things are ready: come to the marriage feast.
Mat 22:5 But they made light of it, and went their ways, one to his own farm, another to his merchandise;
Mat 22:6 and the rest laid hold on his servants, and treated them shamefully, and killed them.
Mat 22:7 But the king was wroth; and he sent his armies, and destroyed those murderers, and burned their city.
Mat 22:8 Then saith he to his servants, The wedding is ready, but they that were bidden were not worthy.
Mat 22:9 Go ye therefore unto the partings of the highways, and as many as ye shall find, bid to the marriage feast.
Mat 22:10 And those servants went out into the highways, and gathered together all as many as they found, both bad and good: and the wedding was filled with guests.
Mat 22:11 But when the king came in to behold the guests, he saw there a man who had not on a wedding-garment:
Mat 22:12 and he saith unto him, Friend, how camest thou in hither not having a wedding-garment? And he was speechless.
Mat 22:13 Then the king said to the servants, Bind him hand and foot, and cast him out into the outer darkness; there shall be the weeping and the gnashing of teeth.
Mat 22:14 For many are called, but few chosen.

I believe the first servants were the prophets whom the Jews killed. The second servants were the Apostles who spread the gospel to the whole known world (Titus 2:11, Col 1:23) so that the wedding would be filled. And then the wedding occurred sometime around 70.

We're still part of the body of Christ obviously because He's still active, and his Spirit lives in people today. But, the wedding was ready a long, long time ago.

Of course, the Bride i.e. new Jerusalem i.e. resurrected bodies coming down from heaven is a problem. I figure that is a future event. Unless of course the full preterists are correct, and it is all history.

Full preterists expects us to believe something that we all can see has not happened yet. God is not so disorderly. The marriage feast comes when the bride is ready. She is not yet there. She is still being prepared.

Jesus does not have another. There is only one bride.

Except, as Researcher noted quite clearly in the post you quoted but didn't seem to grasp, one does not have to be a full preterist to accept that the wedding feast has already happened, and that the bride was indeed ready as soon as the city was destroyed, almost 2000 years ago, as Matt 22:7-8 spells out for us.

Just thought I'd tell you guys. I'm pretty much done with this post. I'm not going to bother pursuing it.
Most of you are "preterist" inclined anyway. As I stated. The best way to study the Bible is not to go for your favorite keyword and transfer it over to the Greek definition of your choice. That is not exegesis...that is eisegesis...and frankly that is a very heretical way to study scripture. If I used that method I could probably end up tellng you, we will reign on the moon. So, I'm not going to waste any more time on this. We will agree to disagree.
As I stated I am perfectly satisfied that I understand the order of events up to the new millenium. I see no point in arguing with others that have predetermined dogma.

Are you reading the same thread I am reading? A number of clear and coherent arguments are presented against your position and what do we get in response? Sound, challenging counterargument?

No. We get unsubstantiated, and actually demonstrably false, accusations of eisogesis. Take the kingship issue. You made a claim about how Christ will only reign over this earth in the future. Counterarguments which directly appeal to the scriptures have been deployed against such a position.

Do you reply with further arguments? No. You engage in the tired strategy of ignoring the substantive arguments and make vague accusations of heresy.

justvisiting said:

Do you make this baseless accusation because the substantive arguments have gone against you and you need to play the "you are biased" card? In any event, the careful reader will know that you have no way, even in principle, to get inside our heads and make a judgement about what "biases" we may, or may not, bring to this discussion.

Lol. Hi C.

I believe the Apostles worked tirelessly to prepare the "bride." Why were they working so hard to perfect them? They believed Jesus was coming back in their lifetime and they wanted to present the church to him perfect.

Col 1:24 Now I rejoice in my sufferings for your sake, and fill up on my part that which is lacking of the afflictions of Christ in my flesh for his body's sake, which is the church;
Col 1:25 whereof I was made a minister, according to the dispensation of God which was given me to you-ward, to fulfil the word of God,
Col 1:26 even the mystery which hath been hid for ages and generations: but now hath it been manifested to his saints,
Col 1:27 to whom God was pleased to make known what is the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles, which is Christ in you, the hope of glory:
Col 1:28 whom we proclaim, admonishing every man and teaching every man in all wisdom, that we may present every man perfect in Christ;
Col 1:29 whereunto I labor also, striving according to his working, which worketh in me mightily.

1Th 3:9 For what thanksgiving can we render again unto God for you, for all the joy wherewith we joy for your sakes before our God;
1Th 3:10 night and day praying exceedingly that we may see your face, and may perfect that which is lacking in your faith?

2Co 13:9 For we rejoice, when we are weak, and ye are strong: this we also pray for, even your perfecting.

Rom 1:11 For I long to see you, that I may impart unto you some spiritual gift, to the end ye may be established;

2Co 11:2 For I am jealous over you with a godly jealousy: for I espoused you to one husband, that I might present you as a pure virgin to Christ.

I'm sorry to hear that. Your inquiries seemed promising.

Again JV, ALL Christians are preterist. Even You.
We only vary by degree.
You may choose to ignore your own preterism, but it is quite hypocritical to argue against preterist inclinations when you are inclined to a certain degree of preterism yourself!

Whats with all the "greek" accusations? No one here is resorting to such tactics, we're using sound BIBLICAL hermeneutics (they did teach you that term in Bible college didn't they?) in ENGLISH, to demonstrate how your view is flawed. It's not very hard to do.

Except you failed to demonstrate where the Millennium went in 2 Peter?
It's the theif's coming and POW! IMMEDIATLY into the New H&E.... NO MILLENNIUM?
How does your "perfectly satisfied" chronology account for the lack of a millennium in 2 Peter????

2 Peter 3:10
10But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night; in the which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat, the earth also and the works that are therein shall be burned up.

Where is the millennuim here?

The way I read it, Christ comes as a thief and AT THAT TIME, the Heavens and Earth pass away.

Where do you insert the millennium?
Prior to the thiefs coming?
After the thiefs coming but before the H&E pass?
After the H&E Pass?

Do tell.

2Pe 3:8 But, beloved, be not ignorant of this one thing, that one day [is] with the Lord as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day.

* THis is the millenium- this one day that is as a thousand years being with the Lord.

2Pe 3:9 The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.

2Pe 3:10 ¶ But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night; in the which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat, the earth also and the works that are therein shall be burned up.

*this shows us that it is the DAY of the Lord(one day) that is like a thousand years. the day of the Lord is called a day by Gods standard but it is longer than one literal day and many events happen within it. All Gods wrath is poured out in this "day"-att the beginning of this "day" the saints are taken to be with the Lord where we rule and reign with christ for this "day/1000yrs over the nations. we will rule then with a rod of iron and pour out his judgements on them as we are told that we will judge the world and the angels.

2Pe 3:11 [Seeing] then [that] all these things shall be dissolved, what manner [of persons] ought ye to be in [all] holy conversation and godliness,

2Pe 3:12 Looking for and hasting unto the coming of the day of God, wherein the heavens being on fire shall be dissolved, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat?

*when the end of this day of the Lord is come then the nations will gather together against Christ and us and we will return with him and they will be devoured by fire from heaven at His and our coming then will be time for the white throne judgement and a new heaven and earth.

2Pe 3:13 Nevertheless we, according to his promise, look for new heavens and a new earth, wherein dwelleth righteousness.

The beginning of the Day of the Lord is seen in rev 14:14-20.
During the Day of the Lord these scriptures are all talking about the same time period and events from differnt perspectives- rev 15:1-21, rev 19:11-21, Rev 20:1-6, and rev 20:7-10. Each of these as i have posted them are overlaping explinations of the same time period.

God calls it a " day"- to the saints who are with the Lord it is AS 1000 years of us ruling and reigning these wicked nations and people who are in the wrath of God on earth. and to the wicked on earth it is a year of earth time.

Isa 34:8 For [it is] the day of the LORD'S vengeance, [and] the year of recompences for the controversy of Zion.
Isa 61:2 To proclaim the acceptable year of the LORD, and the day of vengeance of our God; to comfort all that mourn;
Isa 63:4 For the day of vengeance [is] in mine heart, and the year of my redeemed is come.

It is the ultimate end fulfillment of how prohetically speaking a day is as a year is as a thousand years.

2Pe 3:8 But, beloved, be not ignorant of this one thing, that one day [is] with the Lord as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day.

1000 earth years is as 1 Day in God's eyes, AND 1 Earth Day is as 1000 years in God's eyes.

Peter is quoting the psalmist here:
Psalm 90:4
4 For a thousand years in Your sight
Are like yesterday when it is past,
And like a watch in the night.

These two verses are simply saying God is TIMELESS. God exists OUTSIDE of any time constraints. These are not some mystical mathmatical prophetic time calculator.

In the Psalm, we read that 1000 earth years are like one day OR a "watch in the night"
(a watch int he night is a time period lasting at least 3 but no more than 6 hours.)
So the psalmist is telling us that 1000 earth years are as 3-6 hours to God, which, if we used this as a prophetic formula, would have to conclude that 1 24 hr earth day = 4000-8000 years to God.

To God, 1000 earth years are as 1 day AND to God, 1 earth day is as 1000 years.
Both are true.
God can make 1000 earth years seem like one day to Him, AND God can make 1 earth day seem like 1000 years to Him.
Both are true.

When God said to Noah, in 7 days I will make it rain for 40 days and 40 nights, by your definition, God really meant "in 7000 years I will make it rain for 40000 years"
But of course we know that is ridiculous.

God Lives outside of time, but He does know how to tell time acurately.

But was the early church ready? If the Apostles who were taught by Jesus in person and given almost unlimited power by God couldn't do it, who in modern times is going to?

Isa 9:7 Of the increase of his government and peace there shall be no end, upon the throne of David, and upon his kingdom, to order it, and to establish it with judgment and with justice from henceforth even for ever. The zeal of the LORD of hosts will perform this.

If His government will increase forever, that means there will have to be people coming into the kingdom after the "wedding." Unless we are going to be able reproduce when we are like angels or have glorified bodies. Lol. ;) :D

No, you are speculating . That is not good.
The Bride is going to be without spot of blemish. No matter of talk will convince anybody that this has already happened. Its simply not true.

The "increase" means "greatness" not growth. So the greatness of His government will not stop. That makes Biblical sense. You have to read the rest of the Bible before making statements like this, because by now, you should know that Paul told us that we will be like the angels, and we will not procreate.

Mat 22:2 The kingdom of heaven is like unto a certain king, which made a marriage for his son,
Mat 22:3 And sent forth his servants to call them that were bidden to the wedding: and they would not come.
Mat 22:4 Again, he sent forth other servants, saying, Tell them which are bidden, Behold, I have prepared my dinner: my oxen and my fatlings are killed, and all things are ready: come unto the marriage.
Mat 22:5 But they made light of it, and went their ways, one to his farm, another to his merchandise:
Mat 22:6 And the remnant took his servants, and entreated them spitefully, and slew them.
Mat 22:7 But when the king heard thereof, he was wroth: and he sent forth his armies, and destroyed those murderers, and burned up their city.
Mat 22:8 Then saith he to his servants, The wedding is ready, but they which were bidden were not worthy.

Mat 22:14 For many are called, but few are chosen.

The wedding was ready when the Jews rejected Jesus almost 2000 years ago. The apostles went out and gathered Gentiles to make up for the unbelieving Jews so that the wedding could be filled. At least that's what it says was going to happen. :D

It simply means, that the Jews did not come when they were suppose to come and not then the time for the gentiles started.

As some Christians that are alive today are also part of the Bride, we can see that it would be most illogical for God to tell Christians today to prepare (sanctification) for the wedding feast, if it is a past event.

Those in the time of the apostles, had to also prepare at that time, because their eternity was waiting for them as well. They too had to prepare and get ready, for some of them are also in the Bride. Some are not, some are the virgins and friend of the Groom.

You are seeing things very literally and are trying to see "timing" in those words, which have eternity locked up in them.

Firstly you are adding times to this that arent scriptural. a watch in the night is not about 3 to 6 hiours it is about those who are set at night to watch. it does not mean God is timeless although he is. in scripture there is a prophetical pattern. In 7 days he created everything and rested- in 7000yrs he is going to finish his creation and make a new heaven and earth.in the 8th. there is 7 years spoken of as days in the tribulation followed by another day that is a year the 8th. The day of the Lord is the 8th year/day from tribulation and the 8th day/1000yrs from creation. Now if you will go read all of ps 90 you will see that this chapter is about the day of the Lord just as peter said it was. it is the time of Gods wrath that comes in the watch of night/It is the time when God will take all the flesh that he has raised up and turn it to destruction and wrath, when all the flesh that flowered will be withered. It is also about the day the Lord returns. It is not just about God being timeless. Even your explination does not make sence. On one hand you say that a watch in the night is 3 to 6 hours to one 24 hour day is like 400-800 years with God then you say 1 day is like 1000 yrs. Peter clearly shows in the context of what he is saying that the "day" that is like 1000 yrs that he is referring to is the Day of the Lord when His wrath comes- and ps 90 is showing the same thing, that it i s the time of his wrath and coming

Psa 90:1 ¶ [[A Prayer of Moses the man of God.]] Lord, thou hast been our dwelling place in all generations.

Psa 90:2 Before the mountains were brought forth, or ever thou hadst formed the earth and the world, even from everlasting to everlasting, thou [art] God.

Psa 90:3 Thou turnest man to destruction; and sayest, Return, ye children of men.

Psa 90:4 For a thousand years in thy sight [are but] as yesterday when it is past, and [as] a watch in the night.

Psa 90:5 Thou carriest them away as with a flood; they are [as] a sleep: in the morning [they are] like grass [which] groweth up.

Psa 90:6 In the morning it flourisheth, and groweth up; in the evening it is cut down, and withereth.

Psa 90:7 For we are consumed by thine anger, and by thy wrath are we troubled.

Psa 90:8 Thou hast set our iniquities before thee, our secret [sins] in the light of thy countenance.

Psa 90:9 For all our days are passed away in thy wrath: we spend our years as a tale [that is told].

Psa 90:10 The days of our years [are] threescore years and ten; and if by reason of strength [they be] fourscore years, yet [is] their strength labour and sorrow; for it is soon cut off, and we fly away.

Psa 90:11 Who knoweth the power of thine anger? even according to thy fear, [so is] thy wrath.

Psa 90:12 So teach [us] to number our days, that we may apply [our] hearts unto wisdom.

Psa 90:13 Return, O LORD, how long? and let it repent thee concerning thy servants.

Psa 90:14 O satisfy us early with thy mercy; that we may rejoice and be glad all our days.

Psa 90:15 Make us glad according to the days [wherein] thou hast afflicted us, [and] the years [wherein] we have seen evil.

Psa 90:16 Let thy work appear unto thy servants, and thy glory unto their children.

Psa 90:17 And let the beauty of the LORD our God be upon us: and establish thou the work of our hands upon us; yea, the work of our hands establish thou it.

Psa 90:4 For a thousand years in thy sight [are but] as yesterday when it is past, and [as] a watch in the night.

Here is a good example in scripture of what will happen at the last watch :)

Jdg 7:18 When I blow with a trumpet, I and all that [are] with me, then blow ye the trumpets also on every side of all the camp, and say, [The sword] of the LORD, and of Gideon.

Jdg 7:19 ¶ So Gideon, and the hundred men that [were] with him, came unto the outside of the camp in the beginning of the middle watch; and they had but newly set the watch: and they blew the trumpets, and brake the pitchers that [were] in their hands.

Jdg 7:20 And the three companies blew the trumpets, and brake the pitchers, and held the lamps in their left hands, and the trumpets in their right hands to blow [withal]: and they cried, The sword of the LORD, and of Gideon.

Jdg 7:21 And they stood every man in his place round about the camp: and all the host ran, and cried, and fled.

Jdg 7:22 And the three hundred blew the trumpets, and the LORD set every man's sword against his fellow, even throughout all the host: and the host fled to Bethshittah in Zererath, [and] to the border of Abelmeholah, unto Tabbath.

Mat 24:42 Watch therefore: for ye know not what hour your Lord doth come.

Mat 24:43 But know this, that if the goodman of the house had known in what watch the thief would come, he would have watched, and would not have suffered his house to be broken up.

1Th 5:6 Therefore let us not sleep, as [do] others; but let us watch and be sober.
Mat 24:44 Therefore be ye also ready: for in such an hour as ye think not the Son of man cometh.

1Pe 4:7 ¶ But the end of all things is at hand: be ye therefore sober, and watch unto prayer.
