Can a Christian Woman Be a Pole Dancer?

My friend is a pole dancer and a non practicing Methodist. When I mention she could come back to the church she laughs. She thinks that she would have to give up her job. I'm not so sure.

What can I tell her?

I've never seen a pole dancer, other than as a joke - but I don't think it 'fits' all the biblical admonitions against lust and seems to go against verses like: "what ever is pure, whatever is good.... think on these things..."

But if a man wants to be a male stripper for, like, bachelorette parties, that's ok - 'cause won't don't lust. :lol

I never saw her dance. We met at the vet's office. She is a crazy cat lady lol.

But really, I think maybe she could use her attractiveness as an effective witnessing tool. I figure there are lots of guys who struggle with the demon of alcoholism who would listen to her.

I probably should ask for prayers for her. We'll call her Besa (not her real name)

what is really going on here....topic on tatoos and now pole dancing. What about women witnessing, by telling others to live like Jesus and the apostles did. I am somewhat amazed at the kind of thinking here. Is it o.k for a woman to be prostitute or porn star...Something is definitely wrong here:eeeekkk

What kind of example would a pole dancer set, with all her legs straddle in the air and men just watching. Is there anything edifying in poledancing. The bible says we are to remove lust from our lives. What will the men be thinking as they focus their eyes between her crotch...God and the bible, come on fellas, be realistic.

I heard about a cult that had topless women on their tracts to attract men into the group.

But I suppose these days that'll get you both male and female recruits.

Tell her she's gonna have to give up the lewd part of it...that's all.

I think the question is backwards. Can a pole dancer(a woman working in a strip club dancing with, around, or whatever, "a pole") be a Christian woman? if that's the question, then I'd say yes.

abide:

I think Joe, who often makes controversial statements, is mimicking another thread about doing faith based tattoos, etc. Unfortunately it's a lumping together of tasteful designs (e.g., Bible verse ref. on a wrist, etc., which may lead to many witness conversations) with this kind of somewhat crude entertainment.

But really, how is her sin any worse than anyone else's? Plenty of people lie because their employer tells them to.

Suppose a man was a former gay man, tell me what should he do to witness. According to your argument his sin is no less than others. How can a person encourage someone to change, not by associating in the same lifestyle, but being different. The gospel was never a popular message and never will be. Sin cannot be categorised, we do not compare evil with evil. The old man must be put to death.

Would I be a good witness and setting a Christian example by getting involved in this festival.?

Her heart is convicted and she states that she'd have to stop her job. That's because she knows there is no fellowship between the Holy Spirit and Flesh.

Why would any Christian argue against the truth?

S:

I don't disagree with this description of the likely course of events.

But how is her sin any worse than say, a woman who does not follow Eph 5? Or a man who drinks to excess? I see plenty of those people who go about witnessing and it seems to be OK.

You are kind of putting the cart before the horse here. I would just focus on getting her back to church. If she can get into a position where she is walking close with the lord then the holy spirit will guide her.

Of course Christians can do anything they like, but I wouldn't say it would be the will of god for her to pole dance since it is really aimed at the lust of the flesh of the punters.

kind of somewhat crude entertainment.

How do you know if what she does is "crude"? I don't even know if what she does is crude. It's not like I've ever been in the place where she works. I don't even drink, actually she doesn't drink either.

If Betty Page could get saved, I'm sure Besa can

so let me get this right. i can watch this lady on the pole and she tells me about jesus and that makes it ok?:eeeekkk uh yeah i struggle with porn. man next thing you know some here can tell me that we can be christian prostitutes.or gay christians. both sins are forgivable but one must repent and no longer BE IN them!no one is saying an unsubmissive wife is ok.
