Can an unbeliever do good to others ?

God showed how we shall not covet our neighbours house, wife, nor anything that is our neighbours.

In these modern end times, can an unbeliever ( in Jesus Christ) help mend a neighbours fence, and not be covetous ?

Exodus 20:17 Thou shalt not covet thy neighbour's house, thou shalt not covet thy neighbour's wife, nor his manservant, nor his maidservant, nor his ox, nor his ass, nor any thing that is thy neighbour's.

Jesus beheld how many ( unbelievers) gave money (charity) into the treasury, and although the rich gave much, a poor widow gave a little in comparison, but Jesus declared how that what she gave was more than all who had given into the treasury. ( she gave all. The righteous gives and spares not, but the covetous are greedy all day long. Proverbs 21:26i)

The Pharisees ( unbelievers) were covetous and disagreed with Christ.

Proverbs 21:26 He coveteth greedily all the day long: but the righteous giveth and spareth not.

Mark 12:41 And Jesus sat over against the treasury, and beheld how the people cast money into the treasury: and many that were rich cast in much.
42 And there came a certain poor widow, and she threw in two mites, which make a farthing.
43 And he called unto him his disciples, and saith unto them, Verily I say unto you, That this poor widow hath cast more in, than all they which have cast into the treasury:
44 For all they did cast in of their abundance; but she of her want did cast in all that she had, even all her living.

Luke 16:14 And the Pharisees also, who were covetous, heard all these things: and they derided him.

Back to the question if an unbeliever do good to others and not be covetous ?

Firstly an unbeliever walks and does their works in the flesh. Including uncleanness, adultery ( in heart.) idolatry hatred, ( as the love of God is not shed into an unbelievers heart, by the Holy Ghost given to believers in sincerity. Romans 5:5) and they are heretics, which do not inherit the Kingdom of God.

If we are risen with Christ ( believe in Christ rising from the dead to life, to be in newness of life with Him) we now set our affections on things above ( not on the earth as all unbelievers)

We mortify our members on earth, no fornication, no uncleanness, no wrong affections, no covetousness which is idolatry.

The elect of God ( who put on the Lord Jesus Christ who is love sincerely) pout on bowels of mercies, kindness, humbleness, meekness, longsuffering, forbearing, forgiving, these are all charity which is not in unbelievers, as charity is believing all things of the truth.

Galatians 5:19 Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these; Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness,
20 Idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies,
21 Envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told you in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God.

Colossians 3: 1 If ye then be risen with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ sitteth on the right hand of God.
2 Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth.
3 For ye are dead, and your life is hid with Christ in God.
4 When Christ, who is our life, shall appear, then shall ye also appear with him in glory.
5 Mortify therefore your members which are upon the earth; fornication, uncleanness, inordinate affection, evil concupiscence, and covetousness, which is idolatry:
6 For which things' sake the wrath of God cometh on the children of disobedience:

Colossians 3:12 Put on therefore, as the elect of God, holy and beloved, bowels of mercies, kindness, humbleness of mind, meekness, longsuffering;
13 Forbearing one another, and forgiving one another, if any man have a quarrel against any: even as Christ forgave you, so also do ye.
14 And above all these things put on charity, which is the bond of perfectness.

Above all, ( what is missing from all unbelievers) is putting on charity, it is the bon of perfectness.

Done by Christ in us, the Father in the Son, to be made perfect in one, to know the love of God.

That is the love of God perfected in us, to know we are in Him, keeping His word in belief of His love for us, and HIs love in us, for our neighbour. ( laying His life down for us, the greater love which unbelievers do not know yet.)

John 17:23 I in them, and thou in me, that they may be made perfect in one; and that the world may know that thou hast sent me, and hast loved them, as thou hast loved me.

1 John 2:5 But whoso keepeth his word, in him verily is the love of God perfected: hereby know we that we are in him.

1 John 4:18 There is no fear in love; but perfect love casteth out fear: because fear hath torment. He that feareth is not made perfect in love.

An unbeliever does good to themselves. An unbeliever, is a sinner, and dies in their sins if they do not believe in Jesus Christ ( the risen Lord who gave Himself for us, to clean and forgive us of our sins)

Before they are servants of unrighteousness, with wrong belief, and then the right doctrine comes into the world, of Christ dying to set us free from being servants of sin.

For when we were the servants of sin, we were free from righteousness.
No fruit had then in those things which are shameful ( idolatry coveting, uncleanness.)

But now we are made free from sin, and become servants to God, we have our fruit unto holiness, and the end everlasting life.

The wages of sin ( what unbelievers are not set free from) are death, but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.

The grace of God appeared to all men, ( bringing salvation from being unbelievers)

Christ gave Himself for us, that he might redeem us from all iniquity, ( unbelievers do iniquity, which is impossible to also do good) and purify unto himself a peculiar people, zealous of good works.

John 8:23 And he said unto them, Ye are from beneath; I am from above: ye are of this world; I am not of this world.
24 I said therefore unto you, that ye shall die in your sins: for if ye believe not that I am he, ye shall die in your sins.

John 8:31 Then said Jesus to those Jews which believed on him, If ye continue in my word, then are ye my disciples indeed;
32 And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.
33 They answered him, We be Abraham's seed, and were never in bondage to any man: how sayest thou, Ye shall be made free?
34 Jesus answered them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Whosoever committeth sin is the servant of sin.
35 And the servant abideth not in the house for ever: but the Son abideth ever.
36 If the Son therefore shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed.

Romans 6:16 Know ye not, that to whom ye yield yourselves servants to obey, his servants ye are to whom ye obey; whether of sin unto death, or of obedience unto righteousness?
17 But God be thanked, that ye were the servants of sin, but ye have obeyed from the heart that form of doctrine which was delivered you.
18 Being then made free from sin, ye became the servants of righteousness.
19 I speak after the manner of men because of the infirmity of your flesh: for as ye have yielded your members servants to uncleanness and to iniquity unto iniquity; even so now yield your members servants to righteousness unto holiness.
20 For when ye were the servants of sin, ye were free from righteousness.
21 What fruit had ye then in those things whereof ye are now ashamed? for the end of those things is death.
22 But now being made free from sin, and become servants to God, ye have your fruit unto holiness, and the end everlasting life.
23 For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.

Titus 2:11 For the grace of God that bringeth salvation hath appeared to all men,
12 Teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly, in this present world;
13 Looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ;
14 Who gave himself for us, that he might redeem us from all iniquity, and purify unto himself a peculiar people, zealous of good works.
