It would be very beneficial and edifying to us all to do an in depth study of John 14-15-16

I can't do it. I don't write very well, I seem to make people mad quite a bit, lol...I'm no one to lead something like this. There are better teachers than me on this board. More respected, more trust in them. Can you do this? I thought about PM'ing one of a few members to ask them, but I don't want to put anyone on the spot.

But if you know John 14 15 16...we need this Brothers.

Thanks :)

I will post the scripture and a corresponding one as well and see if we can get others involved to share.

15 “If you love Me, keep My commandments. 16 And I will pray the Father, and He will give you another Helper, that He may abide with you forever—
John 14:15-16

And we are His witnesses to these things, and so also is the Holy Spirit whom God has given to those who obey Him.”
Acts 5:32

PS. Within 10 posts this will turn into a OSAS thread.

Christ is preparing the disciples for his death and resurrection.(John 16:16-33) He is explaining to them that He must go so that the Holy Spirit (comforter) will come and continue the work (John 15:26-27) (John 14:23-26)of planting (the gospel) through them and all that believe their message. He has already put his authority and approval on what they will teach (John 16:12-15). All those in the church are heirs of the throne and will dwell with Christ and the father (John 14:1-4) (Rom. 8:14-17). This is not just to the disciples, this is for all believers (John 17:20-24). The comforter was given at Pentecost. Study the Scriptures first. Discussions welcome.

These three chapters really blew me away! What we need to do is to believe and act upon it in our everyday life.

Yes Edward, Christ has left us to carry on. He said, The world would hate us because it hated Him and the student is not above the Master. I have friends from high school that do not associate with me and my wife because we praise the Lord. They don't hate me, it's just that my life in Christ makes them feel guilty because they are into the worlds ways. I'am a foreigner here in this world (the principles that govern it) and look forward to going home...I don't fit in.

These three chapters deal with the crucial hours of Jesus right before He was crucified. The Disciples were fearful and confused by what Jesus spoke to them about His leaving them to go be with the Father. Jesus told them it was expedient for Him to leave them so the comforter (Holy Spirit) could come down from heaven and indwell them and also empower them. The Holy Spirit would teach them and give them understanding of what they were taught by Jesus so they could carry on the works of the Lord making disciples of all men after Jesus ascended up to Heaven to sit at the right hand of the Father. John 14:12 Jesus said the works that He did we will also do and greater works than these of Jesus only means there will be more people who believe in Him that will be indwelled and empowered first to take the Gospel message out into all the world.

The Disciples did not understand the things Jesus taught them until they were enlightened by the Holy Spirit that brought all those teachings of Christ back to them and gave them wisdom and understanding of what Jesus taught them. The lesson is the same for all who take the Gospel message out into the world that we too need to wait for the indwelling and be empowered by the Holy Spirit who teaches us all things and will bring back to our remembrance of what we have learned.

Exactly! I watched the Passion of the Christ awhile back, and I wept. Jesus endured a lot for us. The Lord impressed upon me recently that it was actually much worse than is depicted in the movie. I wept again, thanking Him. People say that the Jews killed Jesus. That is a lie. Jesus laid His life down...in love for us.

The man who played Jesus in the Passion of the Christ, Jim Caviezel, has a wonderful testimony on youtube. It's worth watching. Did you know he was struck by lightening while filming the movie? I didn't know that. I'll post it in my new testimony thread.

New International Version
Moses said to the LORD, "Pardon your servant, Lord. I have never been eloquent, neither in the past nor since you have spoken to your servant. I am slow of speech and tongue."
Exodus 4:10
God did not take that as an excuse.....:nod

You are so right that Jesus did lay his own life down so we can have eternal life through him.

I heard something about him being struck, but I'm on dial up and can't open videos. Can't afford dish satellite

I know. I agree. I am much encouraged by the scripture which says, in my weakness is His Strength...and I wonder what the Lord has in store for me. I am nothing. I wasted most of my life. I have no fruit that I know of. I'm no Pastor, teacher. I'm nothing. But I know I am saved so I prepare myself for death if it comes to it, and pray that I will not fail Him. I'm beginning to understand why the Lord will not heal me. I wasted most of my life and have borne no fruit, so I must suffer now in order to share later.

Edward, you are bearing fruit by your testimony as you present the word of God to the world without even knowing you do. Take this forum for instance. There are those from the USA and many nations that read what you write as you speak from your heart and that bears fruit of the love you have for Christ.

Don't worry about your healing as this body will break down as it is only flesh and someday we will have new glorified bodies. I've had two knee replacements and two hip replacements with the second one done three weeks ago and I'm only 62. I might not be able to do the things I use to do, but I reflect on the things I can still do. God is not punishing you for your past as He has forgiven our past sins when we repented of them. :hug

Oh I hope so! I don't to show up alone with no fruit. Thank you Sister. You have strengthened me and encouraged me! I do have this computer! I do try to share my testimonies, in the hope that...maybe. Maybe. I have read in the scriptures that we are to at least share our testimonies with our brethern and with unbelievers. So I do. I actually have quite a few testimonies and share them when I can because this is experience. And the man with experience is not at the mercy of the scholars with the doctrines.

Thank you again Sister! :hug
