What a stupid question. Majority would say no. Yet to an extent a church can destroy you or even save you sorta. Think about a new convert that wanders into a so-called Christian church - yet they teach false doctrine. What will happen to this convert? A president in a particular church told us how he was saved and how he had nearly ended up in a wrong church. I won't mention the name here. You see how the choice of a church can contribute to the saving of your whatever or to its destruction? Christ does the saving tho...but we can see how the wrong people can maim you?

And if the church can't save you really, should we continue worshipping in whatever church we worship in?

I don't know what was read that night, but when it was over, I prayed to Jesus and got saved.
Jesus saved me.
The
Spirit of God led me.
The Bible passages that night enticed me.

But the preacher read the right words.

By the way, that was 29 years ago last night.

Jethro Bodine is a Christian for sure
And as we all know he is even more
A great teacher as we can all see
So that we can draw closer to Jesus (as we want to be)
He's killing me with kindness after I made my fossil joke and all you folks are just going to do is stand around and do nothing, and watch me wiggle and squirm on the floor in agony, lol?!

We should really be in a church with other saved people so that we can edify each other.
1 Corinthians 14 NIV
And so the point of my post. If you're already saved is there any reason NOT to stay in a church that can't save you? And I mean personally speaking, as it concerns you yourself, personally.

Yes, allen is a fossil.
Here's the whole story about this.

One day, Allen and I were hunting for fossils in an old Indian burial ground there in Florida. He had his back turned to me while we were both digging around in the ground and suddenly he lifts this fossil up to his face to look closely at it and he says, "I remember these!" To which I said, "So do I."

You see, that's the problem. How about spiritual growth?
Well, chances are good that if they haven't got the basic gospel itself right, they prolly aren't going to be leading you into the righteousness of Christ's character. But I'm not totally convinced you couldn't get some good out of their fellowship.

I know of congregations that were ineffective at leading people to Christ, not because they didn't have the message right, but that they just weren't equipped spiritually to do that. Other than that they understood the Christian life fairly well.

Happy rebirth day!

Yes it would matter Jethro if you belonged to this church.. :yes

Revelation 18:4 And I heard another voice from heaven, saying, Come out of her, my people, that ye be not partakers of her sins, and that ye receive not of her plagues.

Do you really think I'm saying it's okay to be in a church that is not gifted to lead people to Christ AND lives in open sin?
