Cartoon Nudity

It's bad enough we have nudity every where else but does it have to be in our cartoons as well? It has been since cartoons have been around. Sure mostly it's someone's rear end but there are several occasions they have shown genitalia, usually in children, which brings up another point. It's bad enough there is nudity in the cartoons but why does it have to be children.

In addition is it moral to show child nude, even it isn't improper? Back in the 50's a bill was signed allowing appropriate nudity of children in media, such as new, National Geographic magazines and shows, movies, and even on web site featuring nudists. It is bad enough they allow it shown as adult but showing children crosses a line. But then again they are not posting it for perverse reasons so it crossing the line? It usually comes in an informative way, except the nudist websites which are there just to show the nude children, which is perverse. But look at the famous photo of the nude child during WWII in Hiroshima running for her life after the bomb went off.

So my question is, is there any context in which is appropriate, and is there any context in which it is shown today that is inappropriate? Such as showing a 5 year old boy in cartoon waving his around in his front of his friends for fun.

I hope this post isn't breaking any guidelines, this is a very serious topic that needs discussed and needs resolved, if only there were a way to stop it.

I used to love those cartoons. I watched the Family Guy the Simpsons South Park, etc. I lived for filthy comedy and perversions.


I don't watch tee vee anymore except rarely. That's usually unwrapped, or bizarre foods. And it's only like four of five times a year. That's my conviction. No more satanic cartoons.

If you are talking about Japanes cartoons, then you are talking more about cultural differences. Persoanlly I see nothing wrong with the naked body. Its not sexual initself anymore then a naked finger or eyelid. I think its more about the taboo that is thrilling then the actual nudity itself that is associated with sex. Thats US culture. Compared to most of Europe and some parts of Asia and Australia, we are extreme prudish when it comes to the body.

Here is the real issue. Why? why is it more immoral to see the body of a child. Its the same body, just proportioned smaller. Its not sexual, so its not porn. The pictures are showing chilldren within their culture and natural enviroment. No damage is being done.

Nudism isn't perverse. It has nothing to do with sex, but freeing a person's self from cultural norms and clothing. Many nudist establishments actully make a big deal about banning any sexual activity on their premisis.

It is a moving picture with no sexual intension.

I'm not sure if you are talking about American, european, or japanese cartoonsl I'll need clarification. Please. ;)

The Simpsons movie showed Bart's genitalia, There was one that never made it past the pilot but it showed a mans genitalia, and Code Monkey is always showing genitalia, and there is one called Quads where the opening of the show shows and man stumbling out of a bar nude from the waist down show his genitalia in great detail. All American shows and I am sure there are even more that I have never herd

I also noticed that The Simpsons Movie was the only one that invovled a minor. I thought this was about Child nudity, and not nudity in general?

I'm not referring to these things as porn for film makers have the right to portray what ever they want with kids as long it's not improper and yes Bart's genitals weren't improper but still I see these things as inappropriate and not just that but nudity in general in the media unless it is that persons life style. ANd adult nudity in the cartoons gets even worse like with family guy, no genitalia though but they have sex scenes, but then again so does a live action sitcom and they are adult cartoons, so those really don't count I am more concerned with the fact that child nudity is aloud and yes anime is terrible such as the show chin chan I mentioned and the fact that there practically nothing they can't have a child do in there cartoons

I understand. You make a good point.

Though I do want to reliterater that Japan's culture is pretty much schizophrenia on crack. Its actually less taboo to show chilldren's genitals in Japan then adults. Mostly because as a child they are inocent, but as adults its usually aimed as porn. Its odd by out standards, but I'm not going to loose sleep over it since its not real chilldren.

I understand your point though. Main reason I actually don't watch much TV. Its full of garbage.

Box sets and youtube for me. IF there is somthing I want to watch. Like Venture brothers, house, or old 80s cartoons and early 90s cartoons. :yes

Yes the 80's and early 90's, best era for cartoons and children programing. I miss Pete and Pete, All That, Clarissa Explains it All, Doug, Ren and Stimpy, Smurfs, Ghostbusters, Tailspin, Ducktales, Gummy Bears, Popcorn, the old Electric Company, it's no good now, and so on and so on great shows and all nude free unless you count animal nudity but ducks don't wear pants do they? And of course the sensless violence of classic warner bothers cartoons Looney Toons

Beast Wars, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Swat Cats, Street Sharks, Tinny Toons, and the Muppet Show ( I know its not a cartoon :D ) Was my child hood. Ocastional Transformers or older anime, but mostly american furry cartoons.

you must be near my age, you forget that thing called hentai, and all anime is meant for adults not kids in japan. that get revamped over here. there was some nudity even in robotech in japan but not the american version i grew up on.

look at the cartoon sailor moon, it has a teen dating a college kid, and look at the shorts skirts upon transformation.
kinda of odd ya think for a kids cartoon.
