A Scientific Model for the Cause of the Biblical Flood
By Donald W. Patten

This is a video adaptation of a documentary filmstrip presenting evidence that, less than 5000 years ago, a stray planet from deep space, along with its tiny moon of ice, nearly collided with Earth.

An analysis is made of the gravitational forces that would have flexed the Earth’s crust, creating volcanic ruptures, mountain ranges, and oceanic tides of such heights as to cover almost all of the Earth’s land surface. Human survivors, indeed, would have been few, and countless species of magnificent prehistoric animals would have perished, not due to failure to adapt, as is commonly claimed, but simply because they failed to find high ground.

It would be difficult to enter into an informed discussion on such topics as Earth History, Geology, the Biblical Flood, Evolution, or Creation itself without knowledge of the facts and theories presented in this program.

Tks for the video, it was interesting. There were so many points I think it would be quite difficult to summarize them. However, the main theme was catastrophism as opposed to uniformitarianism.

There was one point I question on his theories. He said that before the flood there was a vapor canopy in which there was no wind, and the earth was tropical all over. However, the Bible says that God created the seasons before the flood, not after. The Bible gives no indication that seasons changed after the flood.

If the video had indeed said "stray planet from deep space," I think it would be more credible to me than saying it was Mercury or Mars, since their orbits would have to be readjusted. You might as well say it was miraculous instead of trying to explain it naturally. In any case, the theory would have to be tested by celestial math. Has this been done?

Doesn't the Bible point out the circumstances of the flood, how & when. The earth is mostly water anyway, and the Bible say's that great spring's were released from the bottom of the sea's & rain fell.

[the fountains of the Great Deep burst apart and the floodgates of heaven broke open" and rain fell for forty days and forty nights until the highest mountains were covered]

Water + water + water + water + water = flood.

That's true, but what we've (I) learned about God, is that He uses circumstances, and worldly events and stuff for His purposes also. All things work together for good for those who love God.

God made physics and their laws, He created the universe. Who's to say that He didn't create Nibiru or whatever to accomplish His purpose in the flood back then? Maybe. I guess we can not be sure one way or the other about it for now, because His ways are above our ways, so may be best to keep an open mind about these things.

Well the Bible says exactly what happened.

*[[1Co 4:6]] KJV* And these things, brethren, I have in a figure transferred to myself and to Apollos for your sakes; that ye might learn in us not to think of men above that which is written, that no one of you be puffed up for one against another.

Since God works most of the time through natural means (it's called Providence), people are just trying to figure out how all the evidences might fit in a flood model. Since the Bible is not a science text book, it only gives the "gist" of what happened, and we have to "fill in" the details with our imagination. One could theorize that God did it with a large asteroid and gravity, or one could say it was a purely miraculous event where water miraculously appeared and then disappeared.

The point is to answer the question that if the Earth was covered completely with water, where did all that water go, since the crust of the earth could not hold that much water the way it is today. Gen. 7:20 says "The waters rose and covered the mountains to a depth of more than fifteen cubits." So if you calculate how much water, you can easily see there was a lot more water than the Earth now holds, unless you come up with some theory about how the water rose above the mountains.

The only alternative to an explanation is to shrug the shoulders and say it's a mystery.

I hope you didn't take that the wrong way Brother. My apologies if you did because such was not my intent. Im not puffed up. I used to be. I thought I am very smart and well read, but the more I learn, the less I feel I know. Really. My suspicion is that, when all is said and done, that all of us will...be aghast at how little we really knew about the world. The deception probably goes wayyyy deeper than any of us realize. Blessings to you and upon your house.

What deception might that be?

Why not take what's written in the Bible about the flood and extrapolate from there. Use the available material and build a hypothesis on that, no use building model's without a hypothesis first.

Live long and prosper my friend.
