So I had a hankering for a cake, but I really didn't want to go to the store for a box of cake mix. So I went to AllRecipes.com and got me a recipe to see if I had what it takes to make a cake from scratch...and I did! Chocolate even! I had a can of unsweetened cocoa powder. So I made my very first cake from scratch. And it came out perfectly! This was the best cake I have ever ate and better than any box mix!!!!!

It called for 3/4 cup of cocoa, but I like chocolate so I bumped it up to 1 full cup. And this cake is so very dark and rich with chocolate! It's amazing!!

No pictures, I started eating it too fast and cut it all up for to fit in the tupperware...

I am glad you had a successful cooking venture! It is rewarding to enjoy food well made! I agree, box mixes have a taste you can easily ignore when you have a cake you make yourself!

I plan to have my own experimental cooking ventures tonight like cooking muffins without flour or making flourless cookie dough, whichever one I decide to do. Hoping they work!

Now, all you need to make it truly a cake fit for a king is to put a homemade peanut butter frosting on it. :cool2

The peanut butter chocolate muffins without flour worked! They got a little over done on the edges, though. Although, I was using a turkey roaster, the recommended temp was probably too high.

Home made from scratch is always better then store bought. I just made choc chip and peanut butter cookies for a friend who just moved away. Hubby is not much of a sweet eater so I don't bake very often.
