Christ in you...

Paul writes this to the church of God at Corinth..

Examine yourselves, whether ye be in the faith; prove your own selves. Know ye not your own selves, how that Jesus Christ is in you, except ye be reprobates?

Paul writes this to the Colossian church..

Whereof I am made a minister, according to the dispensation of God which is given to me for you, to fulfil the word of God; even the mystery which hath been hid from ages and from generations, but now is made manifest to his saints: to whom God would make known what is the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles; which is Christ in you, the hope of glory: whom we preach, warning every man, and teaching every man in all wisdom; that we may present every man perfect in Christ Jesus: whereunto I also labour, striving according to his working, which worketh in me mightily.

What I see often is that many Christians are being led to believe that God is making them better.. although what I see the scriptures teaching is that God is NOT making you or me better but rather reckoning our old man dead and that we are now living by the power of the Spirit of the new man who lives in us.. which of course is Christ Jesus our Lord.

Flesh gives birth to the flesh..

The Spirit gives birth to the Spirit..

And these two are contrary to one another...

I think this is correct Jason, although at the same time is difficult because we still deal with this dead man every day.. although in the counsel of God I believe that it's already settled, for ever in Heaven.

lol. i know i died when i gave my life. i was into same wierd new age thought or eastern thinking and that went bye-bye.I was bi, Gone. war indeed. the flesh may go away or die down but he comes back and wants to reign. the difference tween now and then is that i DESIRE to be more like christ. whereas before i could care less.

Amen to that !

But what's happening in the Christian life so to speak..? it's as if we always have the easy door #1 according to the flesh along with the much more narrow way when we walk in the Spirit.. but I think that's the key word there.. desire.. for where our treasure IS there our heart will be also.

This battle between the flesh and the Spirit.. I think the same way with respect to reigning.. we ALL WANT to reign and yet the way is actually to put off the old man (who I think is our natural self per the flesh) and let Christ sit upon the throne of our life in all things.

This one subject is infinitely amazing to me, so please comment more.. and I think that you mentioned that you were from a Jewish family, is that correct..? All the more important to me when I hear things from an 'Israeli' pov.

well first off, i carry the jewish name but i wasnt raised in the temple. i did get to celebrate hanukah at time or two but that was the gifts and not the whole deal. what i know of the jews is really from simply reading the ot as that is where i was lead to read by the holy spirit.when i got saved the lord told me when i got around to reading the bible to start in genesis and not in JOHN. for this is your roots being that you are a jew. I saw a lot of christ in genesis.

That's amazing.. I can't remember exactly where I started but Matthew comes to mind and the Proverbs.. I didn't even have a clue about the OT for many years after getting saved and now it's like the deepest well in its ability to tell the simple story of the gospel.

Christ is building it all upon that foundation too.. the Apostles and the Prophets.

You definitely have a powerful perspective on a lot of things and I know that I come across too harsh all the time but don't let that stop you from slapping me around lol.. this old dead man needs it more than anyone !

Thanks for sharing the infinite treasures in Christ Jesus our Lord, to Him be the glory for ever and ever.

its sad that many christians dont know the ot and often dont read it or when they do they dont really try to dig in it.i have a jewish friend that i have engaged. I try not to use the nt at all. i meet her on her level and preach the gospel if i can via the torah/tanakh and the prophets.

Amen to that ! It's all right there ! I think Paul had to do the same thing, knowing that any Israelite would only trust in the ancient OT scriptures which they were entrusted to write down and preserve.. and of course he had no NT lol

when timothy was written there was only the pauline letters and epistles and the gospel letters written. the nt wasnt put together till 400 hundred years after the fact. interesting aint it. and sad anti-semitic pastors and teachers have divorce the christian from our roots. i say OUR GOD is a most Jewish one.

Abraham had two sons..

Perhaps one of the most wonderous and ancient OT stories which would pertain to the marvelous Christian experience would be Abraham's two sons... his wife was barren so he had a son through her handmaiden Hagar.. according to the flesh.. and then when Sarah was beyond child bearing age, God gave Abraham the son of promise..

The flesh came first as pictured in Ishmael..

The promise can after in Isaac, a picture of Christ being born in us by the miraculous work of God.

Abraham had asked the Lord that Ishmael might live before Him but the Lord told him that His covenant would be through Isaac.

aint that the truth. i like the part about when isaac was nearly offered up and the ram in bush was put in his stead. if you really look at the location and what that boy meant to abraham. its a most messianic part in genesis as it gives one where you will see christ die and what his nature would be.

Again AMEN to that Jason ! .. the Lord Jesus Christ IS a Jewish man as are ALL the Apostles and Prophets.. and salvation IS of the Jews.. there's NO WAY the foundation can be removed, for His word is for ever settled in Heaven.

As mentioned before.. I think that this is one of the largest stumbling blocks for many Jews.. seeing Christendom completely divorced from its foundation in most areas..

If that aint the gospel told before it ever came to pass then I don't know what is.. and I heard a guy preach before that this is the first place in the scriptures where love is mentioned, within the context of a Father and a son, and in this case his only begotten son Isaac.. whom he loved.

the hard thing for the jews is that they are blind and cant see it at all. i might ask them how they say on that verse. i know that they dont believe in general about original sin. Or that a man has to die for our sins. yet the bible clearly states that if you are "free" to see that.

This is a difficult thing for me to understand.. some do see it don't they..? I could meditate a lifetime on what it means for Israel to be blinded in part although I generally don't see it as 'personal' as much as I see it 'corporately' if that makes any sense..

try talking to any practicing hebrew whether reformed or orthodox. they are blind as well.

Hi, 'i' think we can readily see the Real Reults to your question below! If one reads only the POSITIVES that I will highlight in blue, and the negatives are also needed for the complet requirements of the ETERNAL Gospel, to be seen in red...
Heb.6

[1] Therefore leaving the principles of the doctrine of Christ, let us go on unto perfection; not laying again the foundation of repentance from dead works, and of faith toward God,
[2] Of the doctrine of baptisms, and of laying on of hands, and of resurrection of the dead, and of eternal judgment.
[3] And this will we do, if God permit.

[4] For it is impossible for those who [Positives] were once enlightened, and have tasted of the heavenly gift, and were made partakers of the Holy Ghost,
[5] And have tasted the good word of God, and the powers of the world to come,

[6] [Negatives] If they shall fall away, to renew them again unto repentance; seeing they crucify to themselves the Son of God afresh, and put him to an open shame.

And there are none of mankind who have these Rom. 8:1 Born Again traits that did not have Christ in them at the required starting point of Act. 5:32

And the negative's only came about by their refusal to follow on in verse 14 (ibid) of BEING 'LED' of the Holy Spirit. And there are NONE of these that has not know when they did their [own] thing at the first. For these ones ALL are LED if they will be Led! See Psalms 19:13

The 'thread' question has me believing that we need both sides brought forth for us to be 'IN' CHRIST. As I think that you are teaching? Otherwise 'i' see it as a 1/2 Eternal Gospel. Rev. 14:6 with Matt. 28:20 & again Acts 5:32.

--Elijah

It's a little difficult trying to follow you here.. are you saying that it's both the flesh and the Spirit working together ?

Colossians 3:3 NLT is special to me...
For you died to this life, and your real life is hidden with Christ in God.

Think of God! I can envision Him as a monumental glory cloud, bright as the sun. Now think of Christ, who has perfect access to the Father! Think of His Spirit, His emissary, sent to live within you and now dwells in you! Now think of you, your life lived in the flesh, now righteous, now enabled to stand in the presence of your King. While you are in His shelter and companionship, He takes you into the heart of the Father, that great glory cloud!

Yes, our lives are hidden with Christ's life inside God's glorious presence.
