Isaiah 9:6 For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.
Corinthians 3:17 Now the Lord is that Spirit: and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty.
Colossians 1:15 Who is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of every creature.

I was told above scriptures certified christ Jesus is spirit, what's your views?

Told by whom?

It is an historical fact that Jesus of Nazareth, called "the Christ", was a real live human being who was executed by crucifixion.

and you believe him? the only spirit is the comforter he left for us
I would be much more thoughtful before going there, brother. Before Jesus gave over His Deity to the Father, He, the Father and the Holy Spirit of God were, all of them, Spirit Beings. The Father still is as is the Holy Spirit.

For our friend, Jesus rose in the Body and when He returned and taught for forty days, He was present in the Glorified Body. (Luke 24:39) A good resource for you might be http://www.learnthebible.org/the-resurrected-body-of-christ.html

Welcome to the site.

I was told yesterday by a brother.

A "brother"?

And how is this "brother" qualified to make such a statement? Has he done formal study at a recognized Bible College or seminary?

How about your pastor? (I'm assuming you go to a Bible-believing church) Have you asked him?

Ask a Baptist preacher who has graduated from a Baptist Bible college/seminary if Jesus is a spirit.

Let us know what he says.

And I picked Baptist because they are famous for knowing their Bible.

Jim,
Bad answer! I am a Baptist but have never ever been to seminary. I have engaged in more discussions with such grads and their proffs about the heresies taught them in Bible Colleges. I have even had two ministers, graduates, and one Baptist Bible College Proff debate my position that the Bible "is" the Word of God, all of it. I have even been kicked out of a Baptist Church for calling it to the attention of a Seminary trained Pastor that he was attributing the characteristics of Satan to Jesus. When the reasons were brought before the association by an independent party his license to preach was revoked.

I have spent the past twenty-five years in Prayer and Bible Study and there is more than one graduated Pastor that discuss' theology and last weeks sermon with me to get another look at their teaching. The smartest preacher I know of could not even read the scriptures. His wife did that for him and he never entered the altar with a note but, instead, gave himself over to the Spirit of God and let God preach through him. My best early teacher was a layman. If God calls a brother or a sister, and if they surrender everything to Him, they are qualified.

In this case the brother that told our friend here that Jesus is Spirit is not all wrong, shoot, even Bill Taylor is a spirit wrapped inside this human body. Perhaps that is where he was going.

What ever you have encountered is nothing compared to the nit-wit, kakamamie ideas that I constantly hee posted in forums for self appointed Bible experts.

Yep, you're right, some seminaries and seminarians have gone off the deep end.

I guess I'm just sick and tired of people with no understanding telling me I need to read my Bible.

Many will try to turn you from the Spirit to worship after the image of a man. Just as Jesus said of the Pharisees: You don't enter the kingdom and you prevent those who are entering. Woe unto you scribes and Pharisees...

You can't go wrong seeking after the Spirit, for God is a Spirit. But don't take my word for it, listen to what Jesus himself said.

John 4:21-24
Jesus saith unto her, Woman, believe me, the hour cometh, when ye shall neither in this mountain, nor yet at Jerusalem, worship the Father. Ye worship ye know not what:we know what we worship:for salvation is of the Jews. But the hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father seeketh such to worship him. God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth.

I agree and we have a ready selection of nit wits on these forums also. They are, universally, it seems, convinced God speaks to and through them only and that of course their enlightenment does not align with the scriptures, God has changed over the past six thousand years. I try to keep an eye on them as much as I can to keep them from leading a many as I can prevent, astray. With the amount I sleep these last days I am not very effective but I try.

I get tired of them telling me I need to put my Bible down and to listen to them.

God bless, brother.

Smile,
The first rule I learned about understanding scripture is, I believe the most important rule of Hermeneutics, No scripture, passage of scriptures nor any assortment of scriptures can ever b e fully understood without the light of all scripture shinning on it or them. So you see, if I, Jim, Reba, anyone tells you the Bible says something, get into the habit of having paper and pen with you and ask for the scripture address.

Paul taught us in Acts 17:11 to never take anyone's word about the Word of God but rather to check, even the man in the pulpit. LOL! That might, as it did me, get you removed from the presence of the Pastor but you will not have been gullible and swallowed that lie, hook, line and sinker.

A very good habit to develop is to put aside 15 minutes for quite time to pray and to read three chapters of the Bible every day. This will see you read the Bible once a year. You will discover why it is said the Word of God is the Living Word of God by doing this. Each time you read a passage, the Holy Spirit,, that lives in you, will show you exactly what you need this year, this month, this day from the passages you just read. In this way the Bible's usefulness will grow to you and you will be forever amazed at, just, how closely God watches over you.

And may God bless you and yours.

This scripture comes to me.

1 John 4:1-3 Dear friends, do not believe every spirit, but test spirits to see whether they are from God, because many false prophets have gone out into the world. This is how you can recognize the Spirit of God: Every spirit that acknowledges that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is from God, but every spirit that does not acknowledge Jesus is not from God. This is the spirit of the antichrist, which you have heard is coming and even now is already in the world.

As others have stated, he came in the flesh and now he sends the Holy Spirit to be with believers. If you bypass what he accomplished in his flesh, then we don't understand what he came to earth to do. (As the Christ)

God, without a doubt, is A SPIRIT.

His Spirit was expressed in Image, As Word, As Flesh, As Resurrection, As Life, As Spirit.

It is His Spirit that gave ALL life to creation.

Acts 17:
24 “The God who made the world and everything in it is the Lord of heaven and earth" and does not live in temples built by human hands.
25 And he is not served by human hands, as if he needed anything. Rather, he himself gives everyone life and breath and everything else.

For an even more engaging and uplifting sight, place Him even closer, in your temple:

1 John 4:12
No man hath seen God at any time. If we love one another, God dwelleth in us, and his love is perfected in us.

No "sect" or "group" or "man" has captured and bound God, thankfully. Though many make the claim to "exclusive rights."

"every spirit that confesses that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is from God; 3 and every spirit that does not confess Jesus is not from God; this is the spirit of the antichrist, of which you have heard that it is coming" (1 John 4:2-3 NASB)
