Christian IT / Computer companies

If this is in the wrong place I deeply apologize. Can someone tell me if there is such a things as a Christian Computer company? I am looking to work for a company that cares for their employees more. I was really mislead in my last job and things didnt go well. Sorry if that sounds dumb. Is there such a thing out there? I have been trying to do google searches all day on IT jobs, and not coming up with much. Maybe someone can point me in the right direction, or give me a kind suggestions. I have been praying daily on a job with benefits so I can take care of my family. I hope / pray God reveals it to me soon. I don't want to lose my home.

Thank you,

Miguel

I’ve never personally heard of such a company, but undoubtedly there are many Christians working in many organizations. Have you sought government employment, or inquired at unemployment offices. Who knows but that you’re the Christian God wants to be there as His messenger to others. Most larger companies employ computer tech’s. I retired from the Postal Service where they had a large computer department working on, and keeping their machinery operational to sort mail.

I’ll sure be praying for you brother. I’ll attempt to keep an eye on this thread to see if you get other replies, and if not I may move it to another of our forums. I’m also tagging another member that I believe does that sort of work that might be able to help you. His name will show as blue.

StoveBolts, can you help this brother in Christ in need of computer work with some ideas. Thanks

You could apply here. I don't see any specific openings right now but we do accept applications for future consideration. Check out our company values and mission statement. I don't work in that department so I can't tell you too much about what they offer in terms of compensation.

Hi Miguel,
Unfortunately, I'm not aware of any specific Christian companies specifically for computer work. Just out of curiosity, what type of computer work are you looking to do? Is it hardware break fix, support or development?
Client (pc / workstation) , Virtual Machine or Server?

Thanks for all replies brothers. I figured there was no such company, but hoping and praying can't hurt. I know God has plans for us, but it's tough to keep faith sometimes when things like this happens. I hate to see my kids suffer in any way. It makes me feel like I'm a failure. As far as what I do it varies. Break and fix tech, a little server work, software and hardware trouble shooting, along with other stuff. I am constantly keeping up on things for the most part. Thank you again for the responses. A little uplifting helps a lot.

Sounds like God's blessed you with the ability to fit in where ever he needs you !

Thank you brother...
Your welcome brother.
As far as you feeling like a failure, please don't base your self esteem on the things you do. Base it on who you are... You can't always control what happens to you, but you do have a say in how you respond.
Keep looking my friend. Your not a failure. Look at the variety of things you already know. God will put you where he wants you to be. You just have to know that it's bigger than your job and providing for your family. God knows you need these things, and he will provide. Your job imho is to stay open, and move forward where God opens the doors for you.
I believe everything has a purpose which glorifies God. It doesn't always feel that way, but hind site is a wonderful thing. You couldn't look back after a great deal of suffering and see the good that God had planned if you didn't go through it to begin with.
Keep your head up brother.

I know he has a plan for all of us, it's just tough sometimes. He has done so much for us. Its just tough when going though hard times, because every min seems like years. I keep digging forward the best I can though. I hope he opens doors for us soon. I don't want to lose our home. In a way I feel self centered because I know there are much people in worse situations than us. Thanks again brother.

I understand brother. It's never fun... I don't want you to loose your home either and I know what you mean by minutes seem like years.
I don't think your self centered. It sounds like you are Christ centered... and very concerned about your family. Your family is lucky to have such a provider who cares so deeply about their welfare. You'll be fine whatever the next day brings.

Define Christian company.

I'm sorry!! What does that mean?
That's what I'm asking you. In your opening post you asked, "Can someone tell me if there is such a things as a Christian Computer company?" I'm asking you how you define a Christian company? In your view, what makes a company a Christian company?

Brother I know and understand that you are an Administrator and respect you in that position, but I dont find that a proper question. Why are you diagnosing me and asking me to define Christianity? My post was very kind and clear. StoveBolts and everyone else seems to understand my post and distress. Will this answer suffice for you? "A Company that cares" Most Christians care about everyone so I thought why not seek out a Christian based company that might have computer work. Hopefully I answered you question well enough. Maybe I signed up to be a member on the wrong Christian website. Sorry for seeking help.....

I thought Brother WIP asked a very logical question. I too didn't know if you meant by your statement using the term "Christian Company" meant one that was one organized by some church or what. Your seemingly flying off the handle at such a innocent question may be the very problem you're having in your employment.

I understand you defending him and why. I see your signature as MOD:). You seemed to understand my post from your response earlier, but now your confused:) Please don't kick someone when they are down. Keep it Christian like and kind... I haven't flew out the handle as you so put it. My response was very cordial as still is. We will just leave it at that. So much for support:) Thanks again Stovebolts..Anyone else know of any Christian based companies please Chime in.

Wow! My apologies for any offense. I did not realize that asking for more clarification would result in such a high wall of resistance. I meant absolutely no disrespect or animosity whatsoever with my question. I just wanted to have a better and clearer understanding of what you were looking for so that I might be able to help you. Is that not what we Christians should strive for?

So, I will see what I can do based on your answer to my question which was, "A company that cares." I think most companies care. All companies care about turning profits. After all, it is not only the reason for being in business but it is also the law that requires it with the exception of those listed with not-for-profit status. All companies care about their employees and staff. After all, there is no company that I am aware of that can remain in business if it doesn't care about those that complete the tasks, even if "those that complete the tasks" is only one person such as my part-time farming activity. All companies care about their customers. After all, the primary ones served by the company is its customers. A large number of companies care about the people in their communities by providing jobs and financial support for local social programs.

I gave you a link to my company's website where you can find a list of job opportunities today and in the future if you check it out from time-to-time. My company is one that I would describe as a "Christian" company. The reason I say this starts with the original owner and current CEO. He is without a doubt a Christian and is not shy about sharing his faith. It is not uncommon for him to give credit for our success to God where it belongs and he often opens our company meetings with prayer. I don't know if we still maintain a membership but I do recall my company at one time being a member of the Fellowship of Companies for Christ International (FCCI). For the 25+ years I have been working here, my company has hosted weekly devotions every Tuesday morning and it is paid time. We have a corporate chaplain on our payroll and he sponsors Christian-based and faith development seminars right here at our place of business for employees who wish to attend along with personal support for any that need it. My company formed The Douglas Machine Foundation, of which I serve, and gives it an annual budget for helping those in the community. Part of the Foundation's purpose includes "providing financial support to nonprofit organizations that focus on community improvement through social services, education and various faith-based initiatives." From my company's mission and values statement we get, "The core of our values is an abiding respect for Biblically-based business principles. To us this means conducting business in a manner that is legal, ethical, moral and healthy to the faith-based spiritual life of every employee owner, customer, supplier and competitor." My company became employee-owned 15 years ago and has maintained those same ideals and practices.

Does all of this make it a Christian company? I don't know but one thing I believe in my heart is that claiming the title "Christian" does not a Christian make.

Wow, seriously?

I was going to mention that seeking a Christian company might not be the best solution because, quite frankly, I've worked for Christians and for non-Christians, and found a greater percentage of nasty and unfair supervisors were those who professed to be Christians as opposed to those who did not. But actually after thinking about this, you probably would fit better in a Christian company.
