Folks tell us politics ain't good for Christians. Christians should not involve themselves into politics.

Funny thing is, most churches today practise one politics or the other against fellow christian.
So what difference does it make when all is about self?

politics like or not Is not just the most common politician and political parties. its at work and in churches.

:thinkingLearn as much as you can about the right party? Of course by this I mean our Lord's government (i.e. our Lord). I read some study on the Government of God and how it works and so forth before, it was good. There is a full blown court system and a very wise and powerful judge in heaven. It's precepts and system of operation is not unlike our earthly system in some respects. Except real truth and justice are never compromised. Praise the Lord for that.

To answer your question, it makes no difference,
we either separate ourselves from the world or we don't.

networking is a form of politics. need a job, network. I got the government job in that fashion. one has to know someone usually to get these jobs. it also helped I was a veteran.

Same problem that happens in some churches. Who gets the lion's share situation.

I don't disagree with you.
I commend you for working within the system to help yourself get ahead in life.
The question becomes, "is what I do affecting my Christianity in such a way that I serve God less because of what I do".
The world has a way of drawing us away from God.
It is up to us to prevent it from happening.

that isn't limited to politics. yes I do loathe the flesh nature of political debates. I debate in that area mainly to be ready to vote so that I can decided what to vote for in an informed manner but now im realizing that the powers that be (the real influencers behind the scenes) are the ones that will have the say.

Politics are inevitable. Some people say evil prospers when good men stand by and do nothing. There is some truth in that. Even scripture identifies sins of commission and omission. The problem is good men can be misled so that they do evil, thinking they are doing good. I see a spiritual battle here. To know how to discern who is led by Truth is necessary so as to not vote for a candidate that is led by darkness and to vote for a candidate that will honestly and wisely wield power with equity. Too bad that good men sometimes end up serving people that will find reasons to complain no matter what. Still some people are thankful for their representatives hard work despite not always getting their way. Sometimes we give and sometimes we get. We need not only honest people to decide who gets and who gives, but smart people who won't be manipulated by cunning advisors serving a self profiting agenda.

We are divided into the left and the right, the conservative and the liberal. How we define these terms will determine the spectrum they represent in our minds. Typically they mean set in the traditional ways vs. open for change. I reject any candidate that resets the spectrum as good vs. evil. They are divisive people and you can tell them by their words. Therefore the wickedness of men is made evident in our politics. Wickedness is the innate disability to find something wrong with anything which is where political propaganda masters make their living playing to the fears of the people. It's whites vs. blacks, greedy vs. giving, rich vs. poor, hardworking vs. the lazy, etc...While it is true that these exist, we should seek the proper balance and not give in to cynicism.

Politics happens everywhere. I've had a couple minimum wage jobs with terrible politics (I was the loser, since I didn't engage and I was "crazy"). Family dynamics could, I think, be considered a sort of politics. church politics are sad because...well, I think they discourage a lot of people, they sometimes split churches (less often, entire denominations), and they damage the image of Christians as a whole.

As for government-level politics...I dunno. Where I live, the hard right has taken over a lot of the evangelical Christian vote. Its scary. The 2 party system we have I think prevents real social change and prevents us (the masses) from having a real voice in how we're government. As an increasingly non-political voter, I pray for the government leaders and those in positions of power, but that's about it.

That's all you can do is your part and try to get the right man in there but in the end, it is sad when we know all the while, what all our efforts are really worth.

It is comforting to know the mess will only be for a short while and will make the future Heaven on earth feel that much better.

Both politics and religion are both interchangeable mediums, both being the same. Jesus Christ is the way the truth and the life.

12 And further, by these, my son, be admonished: of making many books there is no end; and much study is a weariness of the flesh.

13 Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God, and keep his commandments: for this is the whole duty of man.

From the pen of TheBarrd:

OUR CHURCH REGISTRY

Mr. Sanctimonious
Mrs. Holier-Than-Thou
Mrs. Busy-Body
Mr. Want-It-Now
Miss I-Do-Everything-‘Round-Here
Mr. and Mrs. Snob
Miss I'm-So-Beautiful
Mr. Heart-Throb
Mr. Watch-The-Budget
Mrs. Sunday-School
Mr. This-Is-How-We-Run-Things
Mrs. I-Make-The-Rule
Mrs. Love-To-Hear-Me-Sing
Mr. I'm-A-Star
Are these the members of your church?
Do you know which one you are?
But where is Mr. Humble?
And where is Mrs. Meek?
Who comforts the sorrowing?
Who is strengthening the weak?
Chances are, you do not know them
Although it might seem odd.
For these are those who truly do
The Holy Will of God.

Some folks worry about politics. They want the front seat, they want the recognition. You know them...you can't miss them. They make sure of that...
Then there are the ones who just quietly go about the business of getting the work done. You probably don't have a clue who these folks are, or any idea what they do.
But God sees it all....

The real issue is governance, not politics. Should Christians be concerned about good governance? Absolutely, since what governments do or refrain from doing can either contribute to the well-being of citizens or be extremely harmful. And the second greatest commandment is to love our neighbors as ourselves.

We should note that the ministry of the Messiah as confirmed by Jesus of Nazareth (Lk 4:18,19 cf. Isa 61:1,2), and which extends to the Church today, included many items pertaining to the welfare of others, in a social, but primarily in a spiritual sense:
The Spirit of the Lord is upon me,
because he hath anointed me
to preach the gospel to the poor; [the economy]

he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, [social services]
to preach deliverance to the captives, [the penal system]
and recovering of sight to the blind, [medical services]
to set at liberty them that are bruised, [the justice system]
To preach the acceptable year of the Lord. [the Millenium]

Politics are inevitable, but dirty politics are not. Unfortunately, most politics are indeed "dirty" politics, but that should not prevent a solid Christian politician from standing up for sound fiscal and social principles and running for office (win or lose). One never knows what impact such a person would have if he also used Scripture to present his platform. He would be unique. If he then said that this is how Jesus would govern the nation (and the Lord will indeed govern the earth one day) people would sit up and listen. Christ's platform will be universal righteousness, peace, and prosperity in the Millennial Kingdom. [This is not the same as "the Social Gospel" which ignores the true Gospel.]

We keep hearing that a Christian political party would be completely ignored by an unbelieving public. My contention is that the time has come for a genuinely Christian political party to show the public what genuine truth and justice and a balanced budget is all about. People are fed up with lying politicians.

My pet peeve is calling either right wing politics or left wing politics as "more Christian" than the other. The world, reality, is complex--it's only natural that Christians are going to have different views on many issues. Political views do not determine one's salvation.
