Christian References

If you're like me you like trying to spot some Chrisitan references in Movies, TV shows and books etc. It's fun trying to see what you can get out of a movie etc that can be applied to Christianity etc. It's also fun to see whether you think the author thought this up or whether this is just a coincidence.

For instance, the Narnia series is a classic example. Need I say more about that one? And yes, that was intentional.

I just saw the new Harry Potter film today, and I was thinking that the Love by Harry's mum that protected him from being killed by Voldermort reminded me of Jesus.

Can anyone else see anything in a movie etc that reminded you of something in the Bible, or reminded you of the Christian faith?
This could be interesting...

I watched a wonderful movie the other night, "The Courage to Love," with Vanessa Williams. It was set in the pre-Civil War era and was centered around mixed race women who worked to help slaves. The entire movie contained religious undertones and I believe was based on a true story. It was a beautiful story and left me in tears...good tears for the way these women did God's work, and sad tears for all the hate in the world.

What channel was it on? I'm gonna see if I can find it. This country was founded on religion, prohibitionists relied on Christianity a lot. So most civil rights/war movies (if done correctly) will have religious undertones too.

I think you'd really like it! I think it was a Lifetime movie, but I actually rented it from my cable provider's movies-on-demand. It's on DVD too.

The sniper in Saving Private Ryan. He prayed before he had to shoot. I believe he saw what he had to do as a solemn duty and he took it very seriously. He wasn't a wanton killer. If he had to kill he didn't want his target to suffer.

Interesting, didn't think of that one, but now that you mention it...

Kind of like the two brothers in Boondock Saints. They said some prayer in Latin before each assassination.
