Christian Retreats?

Hi all,

I am coming out of a hard year and am really growing as a child of God again and in alot of the books etc I have been reading, the authors mention experiences from Christian retreats. I would really love to go on a weekend retreat, or perhaps even a week-long retreat. I am indifferent to whether it is a women's only retreat or a mixed one. I have been doing a bit of research online and was wondering if anyone had any experiences or suggestions they would be kind enough to share? I am looking for UK retreats. Many thanks and God Bless xx

I don't know if you have them in the UK but the "Walk to Emmaus" is an outstanding program. There are 3 day events for men or separate 3 day events for women.

May God bless you in your studies and your walk with him, Westtexas

Edited to add: the "Walk to Emmaus" is a program initiated by the Methodist Church. It's not necessary to be a member of a Methodist congregation to attend. I attend a Baptist Church. Again, it's an outstanding program.
God bless, Westtexas

I thought the Walk to Emmaus was quite rewarding. It is the United Methodist (though all people are welcome) version of Cursillo (which is the original and Catholic version). There are other versions as well (Tres Dias, for example. Kairos is a prison version and Chrysalis Flights are teen versions). It is a 72-hour weekend retreat held several times a year. Emmaus has men's walks and women's walks.

The last retreat I went to was literally a life changing weekend for me as I was contemplating suicide because I allowed myself to lose faith in Christ for what I was going through at the time. I would suggest maybe your local newspaper if it has an entertainment section or local Churches as I found that retreat listed in the newspaper. Some retreats might need special permits so you might check this out at the court house. Blessings to you and your studies.
