Christian TV - good, bad or indifferent?

They are phonies

Papa, no, you mean the term christian appearing before the give me lots of money into my
investment scheme, that in no way I will pay you back, but if you are gullible enough to believe,
God will, even though it has absolutely nothing to do with me spending most of this money on
my house, holidays and toys. Imagine God at the beck and call of the preacher, honouring the
debt with interest, and the preacher does not have to even mean it.

No, no, what would give this away is it has nothing to do with a penniless preacher who paid taxes
from coins found in fishes mouths, because He had nothing else, and asked His followers to give
all their wealth to the poor and rely on Gods generosity to provide. I am sure these guys could not
be that stupid, blaspheming, heretical, self serving, greedy, apostate to walk that road, and actually
get millions of people lapping it up like it is the best thing ever said, no, no, I must be dreaming.
Ofcourse this is a modern phenomenon as tv like this only really started in the 80's, but then the
better you are at racking in the $$$$$ the more you will have time to show and dominate, a sickly
cycle......

Challenge. Watch
and then sit through a full Jessie Duplantis or Kenneth Copeland tv goespel message from beginning to end; I bet you can’t. In light of the OP, this is disgraceful, and just wrong.

Kenneth, Jesse and several other TV evangelists did you read that Jesus had to borrow a donkey for his ‘15 minutes of fame’? He crossed the lake by private boat, but He had to borrow it.

I don’t have a problem with people being rich. A footballer who puts plenty of goals into the back of the net increases the team’s position in the league table and silverware. The captain of industry who doubles the company’s profits and share price earns his reward but a gifted preacher who brings in lots of donations from the hard up and poor surely cannot claim the same justification?

There’s good scriptural backing that preachers and other workers shouldn’t be on the breadline or minimum wage. “For the Scripture says, “You shall not muzzle an ox while it treads out the grain,” and, “The laborer is worthy of his wages.”” ‭‭I Timothy‬ ‭5:18‬ ‭NKJV‬. But private jets and $3m house???

Jessie and Kenneth, soon as you read this post, look up Luke 19 v 1 - 10.

Christian TV played an extremely important role in drawing me to Christ and becoming a Born Again Christian. I grew up watching a lot of secular TV, the TV was generally on all afternoon and evening at home when growing up. I first watched some Billy Graham and Jimmy Swaggart crusades, and many other Ministries as well. I watched TBN, the 700 Club, and others. I did learn a lot. There IS a lot of junk going on out there as well but after awhile the Lord showed me the good from the bad.

These days I rarely watch TV at all, of any kind. Just don't feel the inclination to. I do watch certain videos on YouTube or GodTube sometimes. "Christian TV" is nothing more than a, "Tool" the Lord is using to reach people who may not otherwise hear the Gospel.

I was one of them. It is in almost every country of the world today thanks to the work of TBN and many others. Many people have been drawn to Christ (like me).

Christian radio also played a part in first drawing and feeding me.

Local Churches certainly weren't doing any Evangelizing. Sad but that is the truth. I would have never known Jesus were it not for Christian TV.

Rightly dividing...usually that means change the channel, loll. Sometimes not.

Doesn't' everybody know that Jesus is using YouTube way more than television?

There's a lot of smokin preaching going on there. Many great messengers of God. Giving out real tools for spiritual growth, unlike the crumbs of Christian TV.

People bash Joel Osteen for being more of a motivational speaker than a pastor, but have you ever heard his dad, John Osteen? That man had an anointing, and did use scriptures. He's on YouTube.

I used to sometimes watch Joel's Dad, John Osteen. He looked a little bizarre as far his appearance to me. But Joel is nothing like him. I don't even watch Joel or TV even these days. Once in awhile i'll watch some Christian stuff on YouTube or GodTube.

ugh. I...don't know. I think the Catholics may have the Protestants beat when it comes to TV programming.

I saw something (US-based), "Gospel" TV station...complaining about Trump being criticized, "liberal" judges, etc. I was...not happy.

Other times, I like some of the programming, but could do without other parts. Like Swaggert's ministry, SBN. He preaches The Cross, that I like, transformation thru Christ, good stuff, but...the constant fund raising and conservative slant on...everything...gets to me, after a while.

Intersting topic, btw.
I think Evangelists make a mistake in "asking" for donations. To me it tends to detract from their message or credibility.

There is one worldwide Ministry that I have been looking at lately and they do not ask for donations. They just preach the Word, carry out Jesus's commands, etc. and the money just follows.

I believe if a Ministry is in and doing the will of God eventually God will supply the $.

"Begging" for $ tarnishes the Gospel inmo.

I grew up on TBN, though I usually only paid attention to the children's programs....lol. I don't trust TV preachers, but I also don't watch them much. Christian movies though, on Christian channels, well .... A good deal of them kind of suck from an objective standpoint of things like acting, writing, etc. Even aside from that, it's like they're trying to hard to be Christian, have their own brand of tropes, and it just ends up feeling unnatural so that all other aspects suffer for it. Oh, uh.... Is that not what this is about..... I'll see myself out

I'll watch some of the Christian movies on Netflix but I won't watch Christian TV. It seems most of those channels are nothing but WOF preachers and they're just not worth my time. When I watch TV, I'm usually watching documentaries or movies anyway.

Hi Mustang, I'am the same. I usually just watch documentaries, Most so called Christian TV is to make the organization rich, but the body of Christ is not an organization, but a living organism..The life giving Spirit of Christ.

I was awake because I had been reading the Gospel for about a year by that time and doing lots of study, I had a open book.

It doesn't worry me, if people don't want to put the effort in to read the scriptures for themselves thats there choice, I just wiped the dust off my feet as I left and wont go back.
I think this is really the proper attitude, and the whole reason Jesus gave us those warnings. Just "move on", don't try to lead a crusade against each of them. Pretty soon, your entire waking day will be consumed in doing nothing but that.
