Church and food

No need to mock. He has a good point. The fat can serve the lean, instead of eating.
The "pew whales" ,"the profits from God", and the "anorectics" would keep it from being pleasant.

It's really not a good idea for the church I attend.

Food can be an attractant for some to come. But I don't think it would fit our church well.
We've had different social functions where food is served. I've led kitchen brigades to feed others at churches with kitchens. Schemes and scams abound in food service. (Seen that at my last church and something is going on with weddings at this one)
In Nashville we have some of the best fed homeless of any large city. There's at least two groups on a daily basis feeding the homeless people here.

So I'm not sure that it's a good idea.

Food banks are like welfare as both are needed for those who truly need help, but those who abuse it are those who can work but to lazy to work or will not take a job that is beneath them. We need to be reaching out to our communities as per Matthew 25:34-40, but also use discernment. I live in a hard pressed area, but there are always jobs if one would just get off the couch and go find something to help themselves.
