Church and Politics

I hate when any politics at all are incorporated into the house of God

He should watch his mouth, bridle his tongue...I'm no fan of Obama myself

What do you think? Should politics stay out of Church?

"Hey, you know what? Get the hell out of here if you don't like this kind of preaching."

Yeah, sounds like speaking the truth in love there! :nono2

You know.............I..........just aint got nothing to say. :shame

But I will say that I guess because I grew up reading the NKJV and not the KJV, I had never heard that 'terminology' used for a male before.

Just...
Seriously?
Is this guy for real?

1. Since when is telling people to get the hell out of "your" church the right thing to do?
2. Since when was it "your" church? I thought it was Christ's Church. This guy just has a "chapel" or "bible study group."
3. Worst sermon Ever? I'd say so.
4. I thought, in Church, the padtor was supposed to preach about God; not the evils of Barack Obama.

Overall: Keep God's Word in the Church and the political campains/arguments/slamming out. Our politics should be influenced by the Church; the Church should not be influenced by politics.

I did not listen to the clips, but the church not only has the "right" to engage the political sphere, it has the responsibility to do so. Jesus is a presently ruling king - how then can the Christian not be politically involved?

It's not an issue of a Church simply getting involved; it's moreso an issue in these videos of how it is being done. Sermons that could be used for spiritual nourishment and worship are being turned into rants about Obama.

We got pastors who pee sitting down. We got the president of the United States probably pees sitting down. We got a bunch of preachers, we got a bunch of leaders, who don't stand up and piss against the wall like a man. And I'm gonna tell you something - that's what's wrong with America.

You don't like it? You don't like an old-fashoned Bible that tells you what being a man's all about? 'Cause it's called the King James Bible, and if you don't like that term "piss against the wall", then you know what? Go to the book store this afternoon and buy a New King James. It'll take out that word, it'll take out... anything that has any power to it. It'll take out anythint that tells you how things are supposed to be. But you know what? 400 years ago preachers used to stand up and preach that A MAN HAS TO BE A MAN, not a male.

:screwloose

Who is this guy anyway?

I looked him up on youtube. His name is Steven L Anderson and he is the "pastor" (not sure if he deserves that title) of Faithful Word Baptist Church in Tempe, Arizona. He's also mentioned on the wikipedia page about curses.

wikipedia said:
In the United States, California Baptist pastor Wiley Drake achieved notoriety for boasting that he had prayed for the death of current president Barack Obama; he had previously used such prayers against employees of the Internal Revenue Service, Americans United for Separation of Church and State, and George Tiller; while serving as a party for the plaintiff in a 2009 case regarding Obama's citizenship, he later retracted his prayer, and called for other Christians to abstain from similar action "until [Barack Obama] can be tried for treason".

Similar prayers requesting a divinely sanctioned death for Obama were publicly pronounced by Tempe, Arizona Baptist pastor Steven L. Anderson and LaPorte, Colorado Baptist pastor Pete Peters.

To answer the original question, yes, I think politics should be kept out of churches. Pastors should be talking about God, not telling us who to vote for.

drew, as much as i am for political involvement of christians.

i think that is best for a seperate class or room that teaches christian world view and how to vote accordinlgy.

no one required to go, but its good idea.

www.breakpoint.org a good sight for what goes on in the world from a biblical point of view.
