Growth Clothes too tight. too revealing.for church

I hope that this topic is not a sacred cow...what do you think..are some clothes just too tight and revealing for church? Or any time for a christian woman or man to wear. Are these people so deluted tha they honestly dont think they are tempting others to sin with lustful thoughts? Im talkin Christian brothers and sisters here. I know the responsibility to not go down that road ultimately rests on the beholder..but does the beholdee bear any responsibility to the weakness of his/her brother/sister in Christ? lets discuss...
 
We shouldn't be deliberately causing anyone to stumble.
Would you wear a muscle shirt and tight jeans to church.
 
Deliberately...interesting. If an individual picks their clothing based on how good it clings here or how well its show this off...would THAT be dliberate?

being someone who has struggled with porn and lust. I have a hard time not being tempted by any beautiful lady. we are so immersed in sexual imagery. I have seen two teens at the fair here that I know from the youth group at my church that had way too short shorts. if I was their dad I would say take them off. put some darn clothes on. some 40 year old will look and I don't want a pevert looking at my daughters like that. my wife said wow, teens these days dress like whores. she couldn't believe it. neither could I. times are a changing.
 
Is sensibility all that common anymore? Modesty is not. Sometimes instead of showing off too much skin the clothes are just as tight as skin. I remember a friend telling me about a video of a pastors wife teaching the congregation about struggling with lustful thoughts but the way she was dressed only inticed his lustful thoughts. Cultural fashion and Christanity does not mix well..

I agree but we must be cautious and NOT venture into legalism.
 
Hi jasonc. Hey brother,, most of guys struggle with that to some degree.You should read the statistcs. Thank God for the gift of righteousness through The completed work of Christ! Grace Lord and More Grace!
 
Legalism...This is not an order, but a plea. A request to think before you dress. The very body parts that some christians may want to enhance or show off may be a stumbling block to those who have a weakness in that area (probably 85% of christian mean and 30% of christian women). Not to mention that tight fitting clothes make us look sooo much like ...well non christians. Should we be different in our attire and not just our words and actions?
 
We should not need to so far as a burka :confused2 The argument can be made ... I can dress how i like it is YOUR problem.... very dumb... there should be balance and common sense as Deborah13 stated.... from both genders

I wonder how can the argument be made.Why would any christian dress to entice and think it is ok? What type of witness is that to the non christian,. What kind of brotherly love is that showing to the Body of Christ?

ok. since I have a lust issue. if think I see a good looking female. it doesn't matter what she wears I will lust. that isn't her problem. but MINE

I donna' know I think a burka is probably the only solution. With many all it takes is a pretty face. :kiss
 
Modesty is the answer. If you got it...Flaunt it to your spouse..IN PRIVATE. If your not married DO NOT flaunt it in public to everyone else's spouse or teenage sons and daughters. Guys and Gals....think...if you think "I look pretty good in this outfit" guess what..it may be inappropriate. Just sayin....Thanks for letting me rant:yes
 
This raises a question in me. If indeed the lack of clothing on a woman (or the skin tight clothing) is what causes lust in men and brings on all these problems, then why is it that the areas of the world with the highest percentage of women raped are the areas where the women are covered the most, such as where they have to wear burkas all the time. And why do the lowest percentages of rape occur in areas where women are the most clothing free, such as areas where even nude beach going is common?
