"These are they which came out of the great tribulation, and have washed their robes, and made them white in the blood of the Lamb." Revelation 7:14
Do you ever see a dumpster when it is overflowing? It looks really bad? Peoples trash falling all over the place and sometimes it smells horrible. But when the thrash is cleaned up an placed where it belongs, the dumpster is no longer an eyesore.
As Christians we can also be clean and attractive when we have forsaken evil and placed our garbage at the foot of the cross. There is a big difference, however, between a true Christian and a garbage dumpster. The dumpster can be painted beautifully but be packed with filth. A faithful Christian is clean inside and outside.
Jesus condemned the Pharisees because they appeared good but inwardly were "full of dead men's bones." (Matthew 23:27) God hates hypocrisy. It not only brings us into condemnation, but will also be accountable for those whom we deceive. Jesus said it would be better to be drowned in the sea, than to cause someone to fall. (Matthew 18:6) It is imperative for us who profess Christ not only to look good but also to be void of garbage on the inside. Otherwise we will have the same condemnation as the Pharisees.
God knows our hearts and He will be the final Judge. Jesus said the pure in heart shall see God (Matthew 5:8). We must be pure in actions. Clean in speech. Uncorrupted even in thought, where no one else can see.
Is your life pure from the inside out? Or are you like a garbage dumpster, looking good outside buy hiding filth inside? Jesus said, "Cleanse first that which is within the cup and platter, that the outside of them may be clean also" (Matthew 23:26).
