Confusion in a well-known song's verse line

Here's the lyrics of the famous song written by Brian Doerksen

Come, now is the time to worship.
Come, now is the time to give your heart.
Come, just as you are, to worship.
Come, just as you are, before your God.
Come.

One day every tongue will confess
You are God.
One day every knee will bow.
Still the greatest treasure remains for those
Who gladly choose you now.

My Pastor quotes a scripture saying that in John 15:16 it's Jesus who has chosen us and not we choose Him. so it's not fine to sing "Who gladly choose you now"

Ye have not chosen me, but I have chosen you, and ordained you, that ye should go and bring forth fruit, and that your fruit should remain: that whatsoever ye shall ask of the Father in my name, he may give it you. (John 15:16)

Now this is a very famous song and still sung in fellowships all around the world and did the writer of the song commit and mistake or is it ok to sing "choose you now"?

Isn’t the WHO here God?

Luk 15:10 Likewise, I say unto you, there is joy (By God ?) in the presence of the angels of God over one sinner that repenteth.

I think "you" is God and not "Who". Who is referred to the people in the verse. Please can you explain?

I believe Jesus was talking to His disciples,John 15:16
He did choose them...
Matt.4:18-22
John 6:7O
Have not I chosen you twelve, and one of you is a devil?
But that doesn't mean it doesn't apply to us today.....
The song?
I'm assuming, those whom choose God, Jesus, as their Lord and Saviour.

You have to go back to John 15:12 to grasp the full meaning of Jesus choosing us in vs. 16. Jesus is saying you are not my servants, but my friends as Jesus chose us to have a relationship with Him. Now read Rev 3:20 as we choose to open that door and allow Jesus to come in.

Who gladly choose you now is correct as we choose to answer the door and enter into Gods salvation.

Rev 3:20 Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me.

BTW, I love this song for now is the time.

Just my thoughts on it. I suppose I think of the father of the prodigal son, and the joy and rejoicing shown, and that is continued down from Luk 15:6, And when he cometh home, he calleth together his friends and neighbours, saying unto them, Rejoice with me (Who is rejoicing?); for I have found my sheep which was lost.
And then of course that is just prior to Luk 15:10 Likewise, I say unto you, there is joy in the presence of the angels of God over one sinner that repenteth. To me this is still the joy of the Father (God) being told.

In Joh 6:29 The very work of God is that we believe on the One who He has sent (Jesus).

I agree with you completely.

One needs to understand the character of God. God does not segregate, and he respects the human will.

Joshua 24:15 confirms we have a choice to make.

But if you are unwilling to serve the Lord, then choose today whom you will serve. Would you prefer the gods your ancestors served beyond the Euphrates? Or will it be the gods of the Amorites in whose land you now live? But as for me and my family, we will serve the Lord."

See also Deuteronomy 30:19 "Today I have given you the choice between life and death, between blessings and curses. I call on heaven and earth to witness the choice you make. Oh, that you would choose life, that you and your descendants might live!

And even the famous John 3:16 says ... Whosoever believes.... There is no restrictions. Anyone can and is welcome to make the choice.

Who gladly choose you now.

Even though we have been chosen for salvation..and have been saved....each day we have a choice to choose our direction for that particular day. Today you can choose the way of the world or you can choose Christ.

Look out. Wip doesn't like old threads being reopened.

Old threads are not closed threads, but revived ones as the discussions continue no matter how old the thread is. We need to address the OP and not so much the members as many are still members, but haven't participated in a long time.
