Bible Study Contending for the Faith.

Below is a web site's Scriptural lesson on contending for the Faith, In which I believe in. You would do well to study it. Those who do not learn or believe it's confirmation are outside of Spirit discernment, of Christ's and the Apostles's warnings.

This faith is worth contending for. The faith is repeatedly threatened from within the church by professing Christians. It is the duty of every believer to contend for the faith once for all delivered to the saints.

I read it.
Its kinda vague and unspecific.
But i was able to ascertain the POV of the writer, the preacher, this person.
He is a hater of OSAS., and has the typical misunderstanding about Faith, because he, as far as i can tell, is not familiar with Romans 4, or apparently any of Paul's teachings.

Now, im not certain who this is..... that Mr Piper is talking about....

""""""" ungodly persons who pervert the grace of our God into licentiousness and deny our only Master and Lord, Jesus Christ."
So the threat to the faith is coming from among some who are now inside. They are probably saying something like this: If we are saved by grace, then it doesn't matter what we do morally. """"""

I've never heard anyone on Television or in a pulpit, or on the radio, teach anything even slightly reflecting that type of crazy doctrine.
As far as i can tell, this is just wild scatter gun rambling that is trying to impune anyone that agrees that if you are born again, then you are OSAS.
Sometimes, Mr Piper, instead of just being vague, you need to name a name, name a denomination, or else you are just shooting blanks in the dark for the sake of trying to sound like an authority, as is the case with this teaching.

Finally, if you want to take a stand, Mr Piper, then take a stand against any and all pulpits and any and all christian's who agree with "homosexual rights", "gay marriage", "gay adoption", and spreading this foul filth, legally, into classrooms where kids, younger then 10 are being subverted by it.
Take a stand against that Mr. Piper, and when the reporters and the Judges and the courts come for you, and tattoo you as a "hater", then we'll find out if you have any real "standing for the faith", in your backbone.
Till then, maybe you can take a basic course in "saved by grace, without the works of the law", and perhaps study the book of Roman's and Ephesians for a rudimentary update regarding Titus 3:5.

blessings,

Then you have greatly misunderstood the entire article. And not that it matters, but that is not John Piper's voice. The article is specific and almost certainly not a hater of OSAS. John Piper, and by extension his ministry, are of the Reformed Theology side of things which is most certainly OSAS.

Douglas,
You're CoC, right?
I'am not...That hurt my feelings :o) I'm non denominational. I believe Baptist teach closer to the doctrine of Christ then most...I believe you must be born again as I was. My teacher was the Lord through the Holy Spirit. Godly men could show me Scripture, but God gave me the life lessons and trials and stood by me all the way. Most people talk about having the Holy Spirit loosely, but I do not...and no, I'am not perfect...except to the Father...for Christ is my righteousness and my high priest before God....My propitiation (mercy seat).

Thank you Douglas. I read it, but have some problems with what he is trying to teach. Here are my concerns.

Our faith is that of Christ and our belief of his finished works on the cross that through the blood of Christ and obedience to his commands and Gods perfect will for us we have the promise of eternal life with the Father.

John Piper never once teaches what the faith is we are to contend for under his four headings:

1. There is a faith once for all delivered to the saints.
2. This faith is worth contending for.
3. This faith is repeatedly threatened from within the church.
4. Every genuine believer should contend for the faith.

Jude 1:1. We are not kept for Christ, but in Christ we are kept by God through faith that is Christ as we are obedient to His commands.

Jude 1:3 Faith was not delivered to the church, but delivered to the saints that make up the church as one body in Christ universal.

The church is not built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets alone, but as Christ being the foundation of faith (rock/corner stone) that he builds his church through the Apostles and prophets, Matthew 16:16-18; Ephesians 2:20.

John Piper said "There is a body of doctrine that hangs together and is called the faith." To me this leaves a lot of questions to what this doctrine is he is speaking of and calls it faith.

Seven time Jesus speaks of us being given to Him by The Father (John 17:2; 6; 9; 11; 12; 24). Jesus is the Fathers love gift to the world (3:16). And believers are God's love gift to Christ. It is Jesus who commits the believers to the Father for safe keeping so that the believers security rest upon the Fathers faithfulness to His Son Jesus The Christ. (John 17:14-17)

I agree with what you say, but nowhere in his teaching of faith does John Piper explain faith, but only talks in circles leaving one only confused as to what faith is other than something we need.
