As most of you know, I found God first in my recovery program Alcoholics Anonymous. I found Christ in my home after a spiritual transformation during a crisis in 2015. So even though this is a Christian board I still use the coping skills AA taught me. They are faith, optimism, acceptance, reaching out, and surrendering all our fear to God. One thing leads to another, and gratitude helps me stay optimistic. My AA mentor always told me during bad times to make a gratitude list. Below is mine.
HOW ARE YOU COPING?
1. I am grateful that I learned how important gratitude, optimism, faith and reaching out are in life.
2. I am grateful for my faith.
3. I am grateful I studied history in college and know this shall pass.
4. I am grateful I have always had diffused awareness (the ability to see the big picture; past present, future).
5. I am grateful that my income in unaffected by this crisis.
6. I am grateful I live in a small room and my rent is low.
7. I am grateful my son fixed up a car for me.
8. I am grateful for my recovery.
9. I am grateful for this board.
10. I am grateful for the people on this board.
11. I am grateful I am able to accept life on life's terms.
12. I am grateful that Christ loves me and they died for my sine.
