Courageous 9-30-11

Here's the website with the video from one of my favorite bands "Casting Crowns" and the upcoming movie "Courageous". I think this is something Christians should get behind and show support for. This church defies the odds on a shoe-string budget and almost an entirely volunteer cast & crew. Even so, they have made an impression on the box office with "Facing the Giants" and "Fireproof".

No, I don't see any Oscar winning acting in these, but it's not bad considering that they are not paid and they are done remarkably well. Best of all, these films edify the Lord and bring the Gospel to the big screen. :)

Check this out, and think about showing your support the weekend of 9-30!! :thumbsup

Big hit I hear. Out sold everything in theaters this weekend by more than 50%. I think the second closest was Lion King and that is still 67% behind in sales.

I always try to see the Christian (Christian-made) films. Has anyone seen this? I was going Thursday but when I saw it's over 2 hours, thought better of it. Maybe next week.

It was a good movie and you can see the Sherwood Pictures crew is getting more sophisticated in their movies and content. I would recommend it, we need more good Christian films!

Just returned from seeing this movie. Yes, it's good. At first I wondered why I spent money to see it other than to support Christian films. By the end, I knew why.

It can change your life fellas...and maybe the lady's too... the whole family can go see it if so inclined. Even for those who don't take church "seriously" it's a good movie to see and will help you think about some things you might not have very much.

The acting was not bad at all (believe me, I came through the original low budget stuff foisted upon us... ) having lived through some law enforcement officer living... it was more true to reality than the usual big budget films. Most of the acting was quite normal and only one or two "walk on" type shots were stilted. You can stay in the movie in spite of that.

I noticed only 2 discrepancies and I catch that many on multi million dollar films. (One was that they didn't makeup the hispanic's lady's arm and while they were so very poor...she obviously wears a watch IRL. lol)

See it alone with a mate or the whole family...but see it.

(3 months later) Oh, yes, Gazelle! I saw it with my wife and kids tonight!

Since Sherwood Films is on a shoe-string budget with volunteer actors, there are obvious things a movie-goer can criticize about this film. As a Christan man and father, this movie was amazing in its message. :amen

This project of theirs definitely earned its PG-13 rating for violence and its drug content, though nothing gratuitous. I believe every father (and future father) should see this film, and if your kids are old/mature enough, I think they should see it with you. I tell my children all the time how God has Blessed me with them and Given me the responsibility to nourish their faith. This movie boldly supports what I tell them. Sometimes my teenagers will roll their eyes (literally & figuratively) when I tell them this... "Here he goes again.", so it was a blessing to have a film bring this message home.

Very cool, Sherwood! Keep up the Lord's Work! :thumbsup

I hope to see it for a second time now that we got it on DVD. As really love going to the movies no matter what!
