I used to live in Spokane. Grew up there the majority of my life and I go back every year to visit the family.
You probably already know to never honk your horn at a moose... especially if she's got a kid around. I've seen semi trucks tore up pretty good by a momma moose thinking she had to protect her babe when the truck honked it's horn to get them to move out of the road.... and why do that do that anyway? I mean, they have no care of cars, people etc... Few years I was at the ski lodge at Lookout Pass and a baby moose came right up to me and my son... It was cool but I was scared that momma was gonna come around and kill both of us.
Coyotes are still an issue according to my Dad and the mountain lions are being seen more frequently within the city limits. When I was a kid we played in the woods a lot and never seen a cougar etc but boy we used to look for them all the time lol! Kids and sling shots... you get the picture lol.
Ohh, as far as your dog smelling like skunk, it gets in their glands and can take months or more for it to come out... We're going through this now. Some days are worse than others... not sure what triggers it.
