Curses

Hi,
I was involved in a political debate on facebook. The debate had been started by one of my friends and, although he's not a christian, he has lots of friends globally, of many different faiths.
I added a brief comment regarding our mayor of london and the next comment from someone else was a quote "[FONT=&quot]May you live in interesting times". It sounded like a blessing but a quick google showed this to actually be a curse .

I'm a new christian and i can't understand why this comment was written, who it was directed at and whether i should be worried?

Thanks

My guess is the person didn't know it was a curse and was carelessly using it.

I tend to give people the benefit of the doubt - assume the best and since it's just a message board, I get to live a heppy and contented life, never aware if some jerk is actually being a jerk. My life is richer not knowing. :)

Scripture tells us this:

Proverbs 26:2

Like a flitting sparrow, like a flying swallow, so a curse without cause shall not alight.

also

2 Timothy 1:7

For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.

so no worries.

Thank you both for your replies. I was a little worried last night, but i guess everything feels more threatening and scary at midnight.

Whether it was a curse or not we do live in interesting times:chin. The Satanic world is full of curses, but as a child of God there is no curse that can come against us and we need not fear anything of this world as fear is only doubt of the promises of God, Psalms 91.
