Bible Study Death?

An OT Saint asked the question,"if a man die will he live again"? Little was known in the OT about what happens after the GRAVE. Job and King David had some insight, but only by revelation. (Job 14:14; 19:26; Acts 2:29-31). There was a reason for that, and the NT tells us why: For it was left up to Christ to bring life an immortality to light. Notice it does not say that He created it at that time, but that He brought it to light.
Something that already existed (2 Tim. 1:10) .

Martha, the sister of Lazarus was walking with Jesus on the way to Lazarus tomb talking about her brother, saying to Jesus,"Lord, if you had been here Lazarus would not have died, and I know if you ask God He will give you what ever you ask for," Jesus replies, "thy brother shall rise again". Martha says she knows that in the last days he shall rise again at the resurrection. But The Christ says "I,am The Resurrection, and whosoever liveth and believest in me shall never die, do you believe this? Martha's answer is much like ours today, "yes Lord I believe thou art the Christ the Son of God who should come into the world", and then she goes her way, still thinking He was talking about the "last days".(John 11:1-28). If you notice, Christ waited four days so there would be no mistake that Lazarus would be in a state of decay (John 11:39-40) Jesus Shouted, "Lazarus, come forth" (I heard a pastor say once, "it is a good thing He said Lazarus, or everyone in the graves would have come forth.) and so, he came forth.

The body of man is made from the dust of the earth, and the breath of life of man comes from God. So as the body of man is claimed by and returned to the earth. So it is with the breath of life, it is given by God and returned to God.(Gen.3: 19). Waiting for the new body. (2 Cor.5:1-8) There is no fear of death to the born again Christian. But we fear of the death for those who refuse Christ, for we know how it ends...we have the Book. "If you believe in me ye shall never die," Do you believe Christ? I Do.
(John Chapter 10 & 11; 1 Cor. Chapter 15) and many more Scriptures on what happens after the grave NT.

Evangelist Douglas, a good plea for lost souls to come to Jesus for a brand new life beginning the moment they believe by faith, repent of their sins, and ask and receive Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior. Keep on preaching that message my Brother, at 75years old, I won't have a lot of time left.

death is sadness we dont want to give them up .but if we look at it from a scriptural point of view. it should be a celebration of going home. when the Gospel singers that we know of in the traveling circuit pass away .they have a type celebration of songs and preaching. when i pass away i would like have something like that . good ol singing and some preaching on being prepared to meet thy God.

God’s Love in Christ Jesus

31 So what should we say about this? If God is for us, no one can stand against us. And God is with us. 32 He even let his own Son suffer for us. God gave his Son for all of us. So now with Jesus, God will surely give us all things. 33 Who can accuse the people God has chosen? No one! God is the one who makes them right. 34 Who can say that God’s people are guilty? No one! Christ Jesus died for us, but that is not all. He was also raised from death. And now he is at God’s right side, speaking to him for us. 35 Can anything separate us from Christ’s love? Can trouble or problems or persecution separate us from his love? If we have no food or clothes or face danger or even death, will that separate us from his love? 36 As the Scriptures say,

“For you we are in danger of death all the time.
People think we are worth no more than sheep to be killed.”

37 But in all these troubles we have complete victory through God, who has shown his love for us. 38-39 Yes, I am sure that nothing can separate us from God’s love—not death, life, angels, or ruling spirits. I am sure that nothing now, nothing in the future, no powers, nothing above us or nothing below us—nothing in the whole created world—will ever be able to separate us from the love God has shown us in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Hi ezra, Can you remember when you were a child? Your mother and father may have taken you to visit someone like your grandmother or other relatives. It was late when they brought you home and they carried you to bed, taking of your shoes (you could feel the cool air swirl around your feet) and putting you into your pj's. You were so tired your eyes hurt. But then the next day as you awoke the sun was shinning through the window, It was a new day, yesterday was forgotten you were ready to explore and run in the fresh spring air.

And so it is with the body, it becomes tired and feeble and passes on. But when we wake up, The Son is shinning through the window (The Glory of God), It is a new day and yesterday is forgotten and we are ready to explore and so we shall ever be with The Lord

Hi ilove,
I don't mean to sound judgmental, But I'm always suspicious of pastors that try to be comedians with the Gospel of our Lord and Savior. I love my Lord and your Lord, my God and your God, and it grieves me to know I hung Him on the Cross. But a joy that He loved us that much. It causes me to weep when I see myself and then see His majestic and Holy Spirit in the Scriptures.

The scripture says it like this, "A time to weep, and a time to laugh; a time to mourn, and a time to dance; Ecclesiastes 3:4 NKJV

Luke 6:21 New King James Version (NKJV)
21 Blessed are you who hunger now,
For you shall be filled.
Blessed are you who weep now,
For you shall laugh.

A merry heart does good like a medicine: but a broken spirit dries the bones. Proverbs 17:22 NKJV

Hi ilove,
You are right. It just wasn't this time. I just could not see Christ speaking like this. I once told some one that I did not think God had a sense of humor. He said, if you don't think God has a sense of humor....go look in the mirror. (that was funny).

(I heard a pastor say once, "it is a good thing He said Lazarus, or everyone in the graves would have come forth.)

Leonard Ravenhill said that in his sermon "The Judgment Seat Of Christ"
