What makes a friend, a friend? What is it about them or how they are to you that gives them the designation of friend?

Good, bad, humorous, true...I want to hear it all...

You're my friend Edward.
Sometimes I can't stand you with all your guns and all, but you're still my friend.
Why?
Because we both love Jesus and I can see that in you as I see it in myself.
A common bond that will never be broken.

True friends are reciprocal.

Someone whom you have come to love. Accept them as they are. Not to take but to give.
But when they take you give, when you take they give.

Being close enough to be honest with each other without being angry with each other.
Being honest because you want the best for each other.

True friends may not talk for a while or meet for a while but when they do it's like they only met yesterday or talked yesterday, understanding that the pressures of life means that they lose contact for a while.

.
There can also be familiar friends.
Psa 41:9 Yea, mine own familiar friend, in whom I trusted, which did eat of my bread, hath lifted up his heel against me.

Right on. Thanks friend. ;)

I don't understand your apprehension about guns though. Is it because that so many times people die from guns?

More people die from malpractice at the hands of doctors, than die from guns. Does knowing that affect your feelings on the subject? If it doesn't, then you may be a victim of propaganda.

Would you be comfortable coming to dinner at your friends house, knowing he owns guns?

I was going to write my idea of a friend, but Wrg1405 beat me to it.

Everything he said...

I'd like to add that if you have just one good friend, you're lucky.

Wondering

Go back to our thread in August 2013, and you'll see where I stand with guns.
You just forget because our loving brotherly love relationship has been concentrating on other subjects that we disagree with.

Yep, sure enough. Though once a friend lifts up his heel against you, he's not a friend anymore.

Or is he? One would say, no, a friend wouldn't do that to their friend. So you're lucky if you have one true friend in life (one who wouldn't do that to you)

BUT!!! What about kids? They can have a fist fight one day, and be tight again the next day. (Remember?!)

I have 100 girl friends.
Does that count?

Depends. Do you mean girlfriend girl friends, or girls who are friends?

It's usually not a good place to be, in the friend zone with girls...it can be done in rare cases, but usually always leads to drama.

I thought about this a few minutes.
Thought of my real friends.
They would never "lift their heel" against me.
There might be a misunderstanding, but friends could recover from that.

I like my friend 44 I can trade her in for two 22's when I get tired of her

So, I have no friends and people here on the forum politely put up with me.
Thank you all.
