The Sabbath is the sign or mark of the LORD (Exodus 31:13).

Hi there!

But certainly, wouldn't you agree that the Sabbath was created to commemorate the creation and time to reflect of the Lord's work?

The Beast has his mark or sign also -- Sunday.

Biblical souce please that the mark of the beast is Sunday worship.

This is what i have been trying to say all along you see its not about ceromonys sabbath is bassed on Christ only this is why saturday sabbath is not a salvation issue.

The 7th day Sabbath is 'NOT' a ceremoinal sabbath as the Passover and such.....as it is not found in the Law of Moses, but in the Law of God, being the 4th commandment, which God wrote out himself with his very own finger.

To ignore the test of loyalty to God (7th day Sabbath)...is to commit open sin and rebellion, against God himself.

Again,

But certainly, wouldn't you agree that the Sabbath was created to commemorate the creation and time to reflect of the Lord's work?

.....wouldn't you agree that the Sabbath was created to commemorate the creation and time to reflect of the Lord's work?

I believe the Bible says "God blessed the seventh day, and sanctified it: BECAUSE that in it he had rested from all his work......." (Gen 2:3).

IMO, the Sabbath also symbolizes the 1000 year millenial rest that is yet ahead of us.

Man was given 6000 years to obstinately rule his way with out God; the next 1000 years will be the kingdom of God on Earth -- a rest from wars, famine and disease and poverty.

sunday is a religion to a lot of christians

Bob that is right you do have hipocryitcal Christians who turn sunday in to a religous day......

They hypocritical things about turning a day into a religion is how people can goto church as you say on sunday and be a conformist to that day.

I would say the same thing about 7th day sabberth keeping its ok "I dont need to so anything" I sit down put the TV on or go on the internet you see it is hypocritical for a sabbaterian to debate on any internet chat room becouse their mind should be focused on Jesus this cannot be so if your on the internet.

so to even be on a forum that is also work you in effect according to the traditional sabbath keeping are a sabbath braker.

Sabbath was not created. God rested on the seventh day, the scripture does not state that God said--Let there be a sabbath!

God took a day off, so should we.

Jay T who do you think psalms 23 depicts the 7th day sabbath is hypocritical in the sence that it becomes a religion Jesus Christ was the fullfillment of that why base the fact that you need to please God no man can do that.
Jesus Christ is my sabbath my rest.
I do not disagree with that.

Psa 23:1 [[A Psalm of David.]] The LORD [is] my shepherd; I shall not want.

Psa 23:2 He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters.

Psa 23:3 He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name's sake.

Psa 23:4 Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou [art] with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.

Psa 23:5 Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over.

Psa 23:6 Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the LORD for ever.

Messianic Significance of Sabbath

*
The Sabbath reminds us that God created the world.
*
The Sabbath reminds us that God delivered Israel from bondage in Egypt.
*
The Sabbath reminds us that Christ delivered us from the penalty of sin at Calvary.
*
The Sabbath reminds us that God will make us holy, just as He made the Sabbath holy.
*
The Sabbath reminds us that God will finish His work in our lives, just
as He finished His work of creation and redemption.
*
The Sabbath reminds us that God is our Lord and God.
*
The Sabbath reminds us that we have rest in Christ.

The rest that God intended for us to receive on Sabbath is not just a physical rest from our work or a mental and emotional rest from the stress of life. When Jesus said, Come unto me . . .I will give you rest (Matt. 11:28), He also said, ye will find rest unto your souls (Matt. 11:29). Entering that rest requires that we stop trying to save ourselves and rest in the finished work of Jesus.
Yes, I agree with that.
. For Christ is the end of the law for righteousness to every one that believeth (Rom. 10:4).
Yes....the word 'end' means, goal, destination, purpose to attain to...according the the Greek meaning of the word 'end'.

The Sabbath blessings have not changed since before the time of Jesus. So when we read in the gospels that Jesus took a piece of bread, made the blessing, broke it, gave it to them and said, “Take it! This is my body,†we know what that blessing was: Blessed are you Lord our God, King of the Universe, who brings forth bread from the earth. It was a prophecy regarding his resurrection!

Havdalah Ceremony

Jesus is revealed even in the Havdalah ceremony. The wine is poured until it overflows and then the cup is lifted up again. Psalm 116:13 is recited, I will take the cup of Salvation and call upon the name of the Lord. The Hebrew word for Salvation is Yeshua (Jesus), so the above verse can be recited: “I will take the cup of Jesus and call upon the name of the Lord.†At the end of Havdalah, the lit candle is extinguished into the wine which has run over the cup. We see how in the same way the life of our Messiah was extinguished with the spilling of His blood. It is an awe-inspiring picture of our Lord’s sacrifice.

Prophecy

Just as at the completion of six days of work there comes a seventh day of rest, Messiah will reign over the earth for a thousand years at the
completion of the age. But, beloved, be not ignorant of this one thing, that one day is with the Lord as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day (2 Pet. 3:8). We are approximately six thousand years from creation and the thousand-year Sabbath reign of Jesus is at hand.

Church of God
(Seventh Day)

Our Beliefs
The Church of God (Seventh Day) believes that . . .

* the Bible is the dependable and authoritative Word of God. No other writing is of such divine origin or is necessary for Christian faith and practice.

* God the Father is the almighty Creator and loving Provider, eternal King and Judge of the universe.

* Jesus Christ, the preexistent Son of God, is the Savior, Lord, and eternal Redeemer of all who truly believe.

* the Holy Spirit is the presence of God in believers - convicting, converting, teaching truth, prompting obedience, bearing fruit, distributing gifts, and empowering witness.

* humans are sinners by birth and by choice. Because our first parents disobeyed, sin and death follow on us all. We also have sinned in thought, word, deed, and in omission.

* Salvation is the forgiveness of sins and the gift of eternal life. It originates in God's grace, is achieved by the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ, and is personally received by faith.

* saving faith includes repentance, which activates obedience and good works through love - all produced by the Holy Spirit within. The regenerate Christian is obedient to the terms of the gospel, to the words of Christ, and to the enduring law of God summarized in the Ten Commandments. All the commandments remain as standards of holiness, including observance of the seventh-day Sabbath.

* all people who have trusted Christ unto obedience are members of the spiritual body, the church of God. The mission of the church is to proclaim the gospel, introduce others to the Lord, teach them to obey His Word, and nurture spiritual growth in all believers.

* Jesus Christ instituted two ordinances for the church that confirm faith in Him: baptism by immersion and the Lord's Supper, accompanied
by footwashing.

* Jesus Christ shall return from heaven at the end of this age. The dead shall be raised from their sleep in the grave, and all humans shall be judged according to their works. The righteous shall be changed to immortality to live forever with the Lord; the wicked shall be completely consumed in the lake of fire. There shall be a new heaven and a new earth as the home of the redeemed for all eternity.

Our Beginning . . .
The Church of God (Seventh Day) grew from the efforts of dedicated advent believers living in Michigan and Iowa in the late 1850's. In 1863, the Michigan church began to extend its influence into the eastern and central U.S. through a publication called The Hope of Israel. This magazine invited fellow Christians to assemble at conferences and camp meetings, and created interest in their distinctive doctrines: the second advent of Christ and the seventh-day Sabbath.

Through these means, the General Conference of the Church of God (Seventh Day) was organized in 1884 and incorporated in Missouri in 1899. Its offices were located in Stanberry, Missouri, until 1950, when they were transferred to Denver, Colorado.

Over the years, The Hope of Israel also moved from Michigan to Iowa, then to Missouri. After several name changes, it is now known as the Bible Advocate. After 133 consecutive years, this flagship publication of the Church continues to be published and mailed monthly from the Denver offices.

Worship in Spirit

The Spirit of Sabbath
Revelation 1:10 John says "I was in the Spirit on the Lord's day, and I heard behind me a loud voice like the sound of a trumpet, saying. ' Write in a book what you see, and send it to the seven churches' ...."
Was John being told to profane the "Lord's Day"? --- Same as the work of the priest, in carrying out the commands of God, profane the sabbath day and were innocent.

Matthew 12:5 The priest in the temple break (profane) the sabbath and are innocent.

Did not Jesus profane the Sabbath day, when He told the lame man to pick up his bed and walk? John 5:11

John 4:24 "God is spirit, and those who worship Him must worship Him in spirit and in truth."

Was John being told to profane the "Lord's Day"?

IMO, this "Lord's Day" in not refering to any day of the week.

It is refering to "the day of the LORD" -- when the sun will be darkened and the moon will look like blood, etc. The end-time Day of the Lord.

Bob, Your thought is more correct. I have heard a number of people quote Revelation 1:10 as proof that John kept the 7th day for the sabbath.

The main principal is John 4:24 "God is spirit, and those who worship Him must worship Him in spirit and in truth."

Thanks.

JKesus came to, 'magnify the LAW and make it honorable', (Isaiah 42:21).

Jay T,

How much sin does a person have to commit to lose their salvation?

What does a person have to do to become re-born again after they lose their salvation?

Have you ever sinned since you were saved? I don't want to know the specifics.

Thanks bibleberean

Well, unless a person understands what the Bible defines as sin.....how would a person know ?

You see, the modern Christian world commits sin, against God, in this very day and age....Sunday Worship Services.
WHY ?
Because they do not study their Bibles, to understand what constitutes sin.
[quote:d7b86]

King David wrote in Psalms 51:12......'restore unto me the joy of thy salvation.."

The sin, he committed with another man's wife, left UNforgiven...would have proved fatal.
Verses 1-11, was the acknowledgment of that sinful act.
Verse 10 and 11 was asking God to create in him....a clean heart, and to 'renew', the right spirit within him.....also asking, that God NOT, take His holy spirit, away from him.
Have you ever sinned since you were saved? I don't want to know the specifics.
Yes....and Psalms 51:1-12 was the answer to being restored into God's favor again as was King David's.

Actually, there is no such thing as 'SAVED'......we are in the process of 'BEING' saved, as each day we are tested as to our loyalty to God. That is why Satan is permitted to tempt us....to commit sin, which will result in eternal death (Wages of sin is death', Romans 6:23).

From Romans 14:

4 Who art thou that judgest another man's servant? to his own master he standeth or falleth. Yea, he shall be holden up: for God is able to make him stand.
5 One man esteemeth one day above another: another esteemeth every day alike. Let every man be fully persuaded in his own mind.
6 He that regardeth the day, regardeth it unto the Lord; and he that regardeth not the day, to the Lord he doth not regard it.
He that eateth, eateth to the Lord, for he giveth God thanks; and he that eateth not, to the Lord he eateth not, and giveth God thanks.
7 For none of us liveth to himself, and no man dieth to himself.
8 For whether we live, we live unto the Lord; and whether we die, we die unto the Lord: whether we live therefore, or die, we are the Lord's.
9 For to this end Christ both died, and rose, and revived, that he might be Lord both of the dead and living.
10 But why dost thou judge thy brother? or why dost thou set at nought thy brother? for we shall all stand before the judgment seat of Christ.

"When I say to the wicked, O wicked man, thou shalt surely die, if thou does not speak to warn the wicked from his ways, that man shall die in his sins, BUT...his blood will I require at thine hands", (Ezekiel 33:7,8).
"Nevertheless, if thou warn the wicked of his way to turn from it, he shall die in his sins, BUT...thou has delievered thy soul",(verse 9).
