How would you describe these two attitudes as it pertains to living a Godly life? One or both could be rooted in sinful Pride, but that, of course, depends on your motivation.

How would you separate these two?

Confidence seems to be more of an internal mindset whereas arrogance is typically an external behavior observed by others.

I can be quietly confident and humble without flaunting it, which in my opinion is what arrogance is - flaunting your "confidence."

Confidence is just a positive and optimistic attitude, while arrogance puts oneself above others.
Confidence doesn't need comparison.
Also, arrogance ignores corrective information, while a confident person won't mind to re-think her/his stance or accept advise.

Example - I am sitting with other accountants discussing tax law. I am confident in my abilities as to certain applications of the law. This is OK. However, if I see myself as superior to the others taking part in the discussion I am arrogant. Wheather they are aware of it or not. I cannot conceive that I may be wrong and they may be right.

I see myself as being confident but I know some others see me as being arrogant.
Oh well, I've still got a long way to go.

How about my avatar?
Is that a confident look or an arrogant look?

I agree with other posts. Arrogance involves some kind of comparison with others. Whereas confidence is something about the individual. That's the way I see it as well

Poor puddytat . I tot I taw a puddy tat;, I did, I did tee a puddy tat! Did he play for the New Orleañs Taints?

If he did I don't think he is still arrogant. Perhaps he should have put his confidence in Christ.
Confidence is like faith and trust. Arrogance is prideful and is something God hates.

That's a look that says: For that insolence you will suffer, mortal! :lol
It's like a mix of shame and hate. Poor cat.

But I agree confidence can be misunderstood sometimes. Especially be people that lack confidence and feel overwhelmed by another person confidently taking leadership.

Confidence minds its own business. It's purposeful. Arrogance is idle. It's only goal is to get noticed.

Are there times when one can be mistaken for the other?
Sure, there's a risk to mistake one for another. They can look like the same to an outsider.
However real confidence can look very humble too. If someone is really confident in the Lord and themselves I imagine they are very peaceful people. So they don't feel the need to compete or defend their status or worry about their standing. They can let go of their ego and totally focus on a topic or give their attention to the people around them.

I am confident only in Him . I would hope and pray that does not make me arrogant....

If I understand the word correctly, it should make you meek...which I understand to be calm, humble, confidence. As opposed to being arrogant, which is loud and boastful. Or, on the other extreme, opposed to being fearful and withdrawn, cowering.
