Democracy vs The Kingdom Of God - Two Opposing Systems

In every generation since the beginning of time, man has always dreamt of a paradise on earth. This dream for the ideal has been the driving force behind the motivation , inspiration and development of all philosophical ideas and government systems in all cultures worldwide and at all times. These have been developed, refined, and formalized. Democracy is just another man inspired and developed system that began to develop in ancient Greece as early as the 600 B.Cs. In ancient Athens democracy differed in important ways from the democracy we know today. The word democracy means rule by the people.

In a democracy, governments operate by the will and vote of the people making every vote and opinion important, resulting in the majority ruling.

The Holy Bible teaches us about a Kingdom ruled by God, not man. This means that in God’s Kingdom our opinion is of no importance and the only opinion that matters is God’s. Therefore it is evident how God’s Kingdom and a democracy are two different and opposing worlds.

The majority of Christians worldwide live in Western countries which are also democracies. Many of these born-again believers, born and raised in democratic countries have a problem understanding what it means as believers to live a strong Kingdom life, which results in the power of God not being manifested. Could this be one of the main reasons why God’s Kingdom hasn’t come on earth?

The commandments and teachings of Jesus Christ are simple and straightforward. Yet we in democracies are so used to debating issues, giving our own thoughts and opinions on scripture resulting many times in a weakening or misunderstanding of what God is trying to accomplish. We try to reach a compromise to keep everyone happy rather than SIMPLY recognize God’s Word as Law. Many times we are hasty to give our opinion on a matter which creates laziness in truly seeking God and the purposes He is seeking to accomplish.

For anyone to live successfully in God’s Kingdom it requires a complete mental reversal. That means to stop thinking as democrats and to start thinking like citizens of a far greater Kingdom that is incorruptible and without blemish. Most of the church is ineffective and powerless because although saved, they are not converted in a way to think like citizens of this far superior Kingdom. I believe many saved people don’t have a revelation of the Eternal and powerful Kingdom of God but continue to live in their temporal state.

God’s Kingdom isn’t where we bring our protests, our forming committees, our schedules etc to try and influence those that God is trying to work through. If there is going to be any real power released in the church, we need to come to a place where we realize we can’t play games with God. God is King over all creation. He is not a president or any leader we can vote in or out.

God’s people are called to be citizens of His Kingdom, meaning democratic mindsets need to be laid aside. It means that we stop going on about political leaders as if they are the ones who can make a difference and to start trusting in Him. Ambassadors of Christ, that is your Divine commission to bring the Kingdom of Heaven to earth. Jesus Christ has redeemed us from the foolishness of any world system and given us His Kingdom. Why do we subject ourselves to the world again?

correct so truly and purely. Yhvh's Kingdom is not of this world, and His set apart citizens realize their citizenship in 'heaven' first and foremost.

it's a point of observation to me , that the countries where 'democracy' was introduced, started, forced, enforced in other continents, have gotten worse and worse as a result(or anyway).
oh,
that's not to say that previously they had it 'great' - no, no country on earth has it 'great' ; no other country on earth has it 'as good as' Israel does right now (looking at all things as Scripture says and as Yhvh sees as He has revealed through Yeshua clearly and simply in spirit).

Can you effectively and clearly explain what you mean by POWER, and how it is "manifested"?

In other words, if you, yourself, did something "in power", what would any of us see happening... with our physical eyes?

Democracy, or any form of earthly government, can either be at odds or in league with God's Kingdom depending on how effectively it applies the teachings of Jesus regarding the use of authority and power. There are few forms of government more susceptible to wickedness than a delusional theocracy. That is the danger of absolutist earthly governance as suggested by the OP.

Romans 12:2 And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.

John 3:6 That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit.

Gal 5:17 For the flesh lusteth against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh: and these are contrary the one to the other: so that ye cannot do the things that ye would.

There will always be two opposing systems as one is carnal and the other Spiritual as flesh and Spirit can not mix. The kingdom of God here on earth can only be achieved within ones self as we are not to conform to this world, but to be led by the Spirit to remain in the will of God until the coming of the Lord.

I politely suggest that John 18:36 has been generally misunderstood. My research suggests that the word translated as "of" (as in "my kingdom is not of this world") should have been translated as "from". Check out the NET version - it uses "from".

I believe that Jesus is telling that while He is indeed a King over this present material world, the principles that govern that kingdom are entirely different from the principles that govern conventional kingdoms. Hence, there is a sense in which the "not of this world" reading is correct. Imagine if I said "my friend Fred is not of this world". Does this mean that Fred come from another planet? No. It simply means that Fred lives in this present world, but follow different principles.

I am not sure what the poster of the OP would have us do. As per my last post, I believe that Jesus is already installed as King over this world - the kingdom of God is indeed already here as Jesus repeatedly taught ("If I cast out demons, the kingdom of God has come upon you"). But, clearly, Jesus is not present, even though he indeed is King. This should not be surprising - Caesar was "lord" over Palestine in Jesus' day, yet he never set foot there.

We need some means to enact God's present kingship despite the fact that Jesus is not present to us yet. I see democracy as the best way to do this.

politics and saving souls.. that is good idea. something called a theocracy. we have dynasties in my town to the point that NONE dare oppose them. so trying to change that is well, not going to happen. thus I may stay home come November 4th. I didn't like either school board candidate and was going to write one in and there was no option for that.

Islam and the Kingdom of God are opposing

Atheism and the Kingdom of God are opposing

democracy and dictatorship are opposing

freedom and oppression are opposing...

We as Christians can live in the Kingdom of God any place.

The Scriptures tell us what His Kingdom is. To my thinking the Kingdom of God is outside mans politics

Rom 14:17 For the kingdom of God is not meat and drink; but righteousness, and peace, and joy in the Holy Ghost.

of course. im not for setting up a post millennial idea of a theocratic world that jesus walks in and assumes control of at his return.
