Demonic faces appear at the end of tv show Wipeout!

The picture makes me uncomfortable and I'm a 27 year old who has seen plenty of horror films. The thing is, I don't watch horror films anymore because I have changed and personally it makes my spirit uncomfortable. I think that it glorifies evil, and as "innocent" as some of that has become to our society that does not make it right. And what makes it worse is that they did it on a PG show, as Deidre has already said. If I had children who saw that I would be equally as angry. It's just like a lot of things that are on TV nowadays, especially commercials that are snuck in during the day time. Once, while at my sister's house in the afternoon there was a Trojan condoms commercial that was played with innuendos all over the place, and even some blatant sexuality. It was a really good thing that my 8 year old nephew wasn't in the room at that time and we were horrified. To me, this is the same sort of principle....Sure, along life's way children will be exposed to those sort of things, but why should they be exposed before they are ready and with no control from the parents? Not cool :grumpy

Okay, it was a repeat of something that happened earlier in the show. She was interviewing a contestant who talked about competing to make scary faces or something. Watch it about 12:18.

I know the face was scary, but I wouldn't consider it some sort of demonic possession of the show. I'm the first to be very sensitive to real forms of evil and I'm not bothered by the scary face. It actually made me laugh when I watched it in context.

to be honest i didnt bother me, but if i kids at they felt that d4christ i would react the same way. When you informed me of that clip, being a vet i turned on the little switch in my head that prepares me for the hooror of most anything, a reason that i dont like horror films, but a child until he or she is of age shouldnt see that, unless with partental consent.

I can't watch the link since it only streams in the US but there are a few things worth mentioning:

1. As has been pointed out, it's not a children's show, so the network is not responsible for anything. Perhaps people here haven't seen what kinds of movies have PG ratings these days.
2. The wackiness of it fits with the show whether it was an inside joke or not.
3. But it was apparently in context. This is just like when Scripture gets taken out of context and it all goes bad.
4. Demonic possession of a show? Seriously?

1. Never said it was a children's show. Most times I watch primetime non-NickToons shows with my children to observe the G (guidance) in a PG rating. And yes the network is responsible to its audience.
2. Wackiness I understand. Scary I understand....have you seen Spiderwick Chronicles and the monsters they show in that movie for children? This scary face however, looks like it came straight out of an "R" rated horror movie.
3. I don't care about its context....I missed the joke so there was no context for me to go by. And when sciptures are taken out of context, I believe many times it due to man's pride and wanting to be right....which to me is lying. I didn't lie...I said the face at the end was scary and imho a bit over the top.
4. Who said the show was demonicly possessed? All I said was that the face looked demonic and reminded me of this screen shot from the movie Exorcisim of Emily Rose. See this link.

My fault. I said it the wrong way. Instead of saying "demonic possession" I should have just said "demonic."

But I agree, the face was too scary for little children. A lot of stuff on prime time TV is inappropriate for children.

JoJo thanks for finding the link between the "face" andthe inside joke during the show. I still think it was a bit over the top but at least it wasn't random....if it were random that would just be too eerie.

Blessings,
Deirdre

Yeah, that definitely would have been strange to say the least. But knowing the show, I figured it had to have something to do with something said or done by a contestant. Either way, I do agree that the face was too scary for little kids. :o

Simply a signal fluctuation which distorted the image and altering the negative signal and the contrast it would seem..nothing demonic in it, though I should imagine special effects people use those images to make things look scary. I suggest that unless you have seen a demon to make a comparison, then you have only hollywood special effects to make a judgement then the images are not demonic but imagination hoilywood style, which is not to demean your experience of course. :naughty Before you make the phone call you might like to check out your TV set, that is also another possibility here. :crazy
