A nice long tail, ears, open-fingered paws (so i can still operate the register), and the mask makes it complete

We aren't allowed a full body costume or anything, but I'm looking forward to wearing this
I don't want to offend and I dont really know how to ask this question. Are you a furry? Sorry I dont know how to ask but I would genuinely like to have a conversation and learn more about this type of cosplay.

Yes, I am a furry :)

What is your fursona? And how long have you been a furry if you don't mind me asking. How did you get into it?
My fursona is a Rough Collie named Quest. And around 10 years or so. I first heard of the concept of fursonas about 12 years back, and then I followed some furry artists for a while without knowing what a furry was. Eventually I began to consider myself a furry since I like that kind of stuff and always have ever since I was a kid. If I had known fursuits were a thing when I was little, I would have begged and begged my parents to buy me one.
I was more of a casual furry until the last two or three years, though. I've gotten more into it, and I have two partial fursuits that I saved up for.

That's cool. Though I bet those fur suits get pretty hot. Generally there is alot of people, who for what ever reason, who find this form of cosplay strange some that view any cosplay as strange. How do you normally handle or feel about the people who would mock this form of expression?

Let me know if my questions are to much, I dont have much experience talking about this and with how some people treat the furry community I dont want to unintentionally offend.

You guys must be speaking in tongues, lol. I have no clue what all that stuff is or is about. Lol

I don't mind questions. :)
They do get hot. I try to avoid wearing them too much in the summer, especially where I live. If I do wear them then it's more for short periods of time or indoors.

I used to get really upset over the hate comments I'd get online, now I mostly just ignore them. Sometimes I laugh at them. The other day I got a comment saying that I'm a grown man (lol) who doesn't have a job, and I just about bust a gut laughing, because I was literally on break at my job when I read the comment.
Most of the hate that would upset me was from geek groups I was in, I felt like they should understand better than anyone what it was like to be mocked for an interest you have. That, and some anti-furries used to be in a furry group and since the admin was very inactive, they pretty much did whatever they wanted. I'd get very angry at them, like "get out of our clubhouse". Eventually the admin made me a mod and set up actual rules of what wasn't allowed, so that solved that.

I don't really get why people think it's weird, but then I've been "weird" my whole life, lol. I've even had friends tell me they get weirded out by this hobby, and y'know what.....valid. But weird doesn't mean bad.
Aside from that, eh......not everyone understands, not everyone wants to understand, some assume the worst, but overall. I no longer care what people think. I go out in public wearing furry stuff quite often.

There are a lot of people with misconceptions about most things lol. Then there are people that give their communities a bad name and you know the bad gets circulated way more than the good. For example there have been people who call themselves furries and dress in fur suits and turn it into a sexual thing and I know that doesnt reflect on all furries but it gives some people the misconception that all furries are into bestiality. Sadly, most of those people don't bother to check all the facts.
