I created my own desktop wallpaper, and made it the same resolution I had my computer set to, and saved it as .png

I did this in GIMP.

When I used it as a Desktop Wallpaper on my widescreen computer, it did not show up right, because it wasn't the right size. It ended up blurred.

I need help to find out exactly how large to make an image for my own computer desktop. :yes

Thanks, Mitch

Hi,

If you're running windows XP, right click on your desktop (present wallpaper), go to Properties > Settings. Your computer's resolution in pixels should appear in the lower left area of the dropdown menu. My widescreen at work is 1440x900. Hope this helps. YIC

I know my resolution.

My resolution is 1680x1050

the size of the picture is 1680x1050 pixels.

is there a difference between pixels and resolution?

Yes there is. In GIMP try pushing the resolution up:
gimp-resolution-select-2.png

This is probably why it looks 'blurry' on better resolutions.
