Yes. They ceased. This passage here just so happens to contain the words "cease" and "done away"
2 Corinthians 13:8-10
8 Charity never faileth: but whether there be prophecies, they shall fail; whether there be tongues, they shall cease; whether there be knowledge, it shall vanish away.
9 For we know in part, and we prophesy in part.
10 But when that which is perfect is come, then that which is in part shall be done away.

No. They did not.
1 Corinthians 13-14
King James Version (KJV)
13 Though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, and have not charity, I am become as sounding brass, or a tinkling cymbal.
2 And though I have the gift of prophecy, and understand all mysteries, and all knowledge; and though I have all faith, so that I could remove mountains, and have not charity, I am nothing.
3 And though I bestow all my goods to feed the poor, and though I give my body to be burned, and have not charity, it profiteth me nothing.
4 Charity suffereth long, and is kind; charity envieth not; charity vaunteth not itself, is not puffed up,
5 Doth not behave itself unseemly, seeketh not her own, is not easily provoked, thinketh no evil;
6 Rejoiceth not in iniquity, but rejoiceth in the truth;
7 Beareth all things, believeth all things, hopeth all things, endureth all things.
(love is the greatest of all things)

8 Charity never faileth: but whether there be prophecies, they shall fail; whether there be tongues, they shall cease; whether there be knowledge, it shall vanish away.
9 For we know in part, and we prophesy in part.
10 But when that which is perfect is come, then that which is in part shall be done away.
11 When I was a child, I spake as a child, I understood as a child, I thought as a child: but when I became a man, I put away childish things.
12 For now we see through a glass, darkly; but then face to face: now I know in part; but then shall I know even as also I am known.
13 And now abideth faith, hope, charity, these three; but the greatest of these is charity.
(When there is no love, everything else is pointless).

14 Follow after charity, and desire spiritual gifts, but rather that ye may prophesy.
(Love one another. Things are pointless without love. But seek the gifts. Let's learn how they should be carried out though:)
2 For he that speaketh in an unknown tongue speaketh not unto men, but unto God: for no man understandeth him; howbeit in the spirit he speaketh mysteries.
3 But he that prophesieth speaketh unto men to edification, and exhortation, and comfort.
4 He that speaketh in an unknown tongue edifieth himself; but he that prophesieth edifieth the church.
5 I would that ye all spake with tongues but rather that ye prophesied: for greater is he that prophesieth than he that speaketh with tongues, except he interpret, that the church may receive edifying.
6 Now, brethren, if I come unto you speaking with tongues, what shall I profit you, except I shall speak to you either by revelation, or by knowledge, or by prophesying, or by doctrine?
7 And even things without life giving sound, whether pipe or harp, except they give a distinction in the sounds, how shall it be known what is piped or harped?
8 For if the trumpet give an uncertain sound, who shall prepare himself to the battle?
9 So likewise ye, except ye utter by the tongue words easy to be understood, how shall it be known what is spoken? for ye shall speak into the air.
10 There are, it may be, so many kinds of voices in the world, and none of them is without signification.
11 Therefore if I know not the meaning of the voice, I shall be unto him that speaketh a barbarian, and he that speaketh shall be a barbarian unto me.
12 Even so ye, forasmuch as ye are zealous of spiritual gifts, seek that ye may excel to the edifying of the church.
(Seek the gifts. Don't get carried away with them. Seek love above all, and that you may help the growth of the church)
13 Wherefore let him that speaketh in an unknown tongue pray that he may interpret.
14 For if I pray in an unknown tongue, my spirit prayeth, but my understanding is unfruitful.
15 What is it then? I will pray with the spirit, and I will pray with the understanding also: I will sing with the spirit, and I will sing with the understanding also.

Ay?

did God die? did the word "shall" lose its meaning all of a sudden ? is God impotent today ? no, no, no
therefore,
whatever God wants to do, He does, and no one on earth or in heaven or under the earth will stop Him.
yes, the devil and multitudes with him deceive multitudes more. (with signs and wonders, like miracles, even raising the dead)
but God is not changed. Jesus Christ is no different today than He was yesterday, or tomorrow(He MAY tarry so long, still- COME QUICKLY LORD JESUS ! ).

in other words, some things shall cease. but they have not ceased.
some things will be done away, but they have not been done away.

only realize that the counterfeit, the false, the wicked, is many many many times more popular and widespread than TRUTH.

and God is able to accomplish all that He has said. nothing is impossible with God (though that anyone is saved anymore out of this world/society/ sin/ IS a miracle. --- with men, it IS IMPOSSIBLE, but with God, all things are possible.

Since God is the same yesterday, today and forever then so are His gifts as they will not cease until the coming of the Lord when all things will then be fulfilled and the books will be closed.

The gifts absolutely did not cease. As previously noted, God does not change. In these end times, if anything they have increased. The OT did not pass away either or cease to be applicable to us. It is not old (covenant) new (covenant), more like covenant, renewed covenant.

Scripture speaks more of the end times than of any other time period in history. Personally, I think that the miracles of old were as drips from Gods bowl of blessings and gifts, and in these times, He (is or will) pour out the bowl upon us.

Can you explain how it is "renewed" and not "new"?

> For this is my blood of the new [g2537] testament, which is shed for many for the remission of sins. (Mt 26:28 KJV)
> τοῦτο γάρ ἐστιν τὸ αἷμά μου τὸ τῆς καινῆς διαθήκης τὸ περὶ πολλῶν ἐκχυνόμενον εἰς ἄφεσιν ἁμαρτιῶν

καινῆς
  1. new
    1. as respects form
      1. recently made, fresh, recent, unused, unworn
      1. as respects substance
        1. of a new kind, unprecedented, novel, uncommon, unheard of

Jeremiah 31:31-33
King James Version (KJV)

31 Behold, the days come, saith the Lord, that I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel, and with the house of Judah: 32 Not according to the covenant that I made with their fathers in the day that I took them by the hand to bring them out of the land of Egypt; which my covenant they brake, although I was an husband unto them, saith the Lord: 33 But this shall be the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel; After those days, saith the Lord, I will put my law in their inward parts, and write it in their hearts; and will be their God, and they shall be my people.

The Bible does say they will cease, but only when completeness comes.

For we know in part and we prophesy in part, but when completeness comes, what is in part disappears. 1 Corinthians 13:9-10 NIV

When is completeness?

For now we see only a reflection as in a mirror; then we shall see face to face. Now I know in part; then I shall know fully, even as I am fully known. 1 Corinthians 13:12 NIV

These verses seen to indicate completeness comes when people are in heaven. Who on earth has this kind of face to face knowledge now?

Ah! Technically speaking I stand correct as your scripture has shown. Thanks brother. I was speaking loosely I suppose, more to making the point that many feel as if the OT no longer applies to us and the law and so forth. It certainly does. And before anyone says that Israel or the house of Judah is dealt with differently than the Gentiles (church) may I remind you that as Christians we are grafted into the vine, so are essentially one people.

Good catch brother!
