[__ Science __ ] Did You Know?

Yes, but you are above average. Most military are. That half of the population that is below average benefits from simple controls.
The job requires it. You probably don't feel when your automatic shifts and locks the torque converter .I know when my Tacoma and work truck does.

No, I don't pay any attention to the transmission. Let the robots take care of that. I concentrate on keeping track of the traffic around me. Where the other cars are, and their vectors.

Oh come on guys! Does every topic I start have to start a discussion about cars? :rolleyes

I guess I will add how a tranmsission shifts

Easy, the fluid pressure ,line pressure is generated by the pump driven by the converter, each gear is selected by the shifter ,to go from first to more a governor who sits on the tail end of the tranny, that drives pressure to go up ,the gear then via usage of hydros and servos, the valve body will allow flow and each servo actuates as pressure is applied ,a kick down cable driven by the throttle plate will lower pressure.

Replace the governor and kick down systen with solenoids and ecm and its the same.Honda's older ones have manual tranny hybrid ,a torque converter with a solenoid driven dog house ,spider gears and all.lasts longs as the clutch packs and bands aren't there.

So you don't notice oddities in shifting ,and take note to why it might not up shift or down shift or if its in overdrive when it shouldn't be.

You can use a car to show physics ,I have in this thread ,pressure laws, thermodynamic laws and electricity .

A flywheel isn't found in an automatic that has a flex plate ,the torque converter will assist to reduce vibratuon and also help with momentum and puts a load on the engine at idle ,a flywheel allows movement to reduce vibration as its center will move with the clutch friction material in x degrees left or right to reduce vibration .this is why you replace the clutch with a flywheel .vibration can destroy an engine

Umm,. yeah, you totally lost me there. :confused2

Although I'm not really all that sure what that has to do with anything on here, the dogs sure are beautiful. :)
Sillyness,Zeus is the husky ,and I'm not breaking what each part does ,flywheel ,clutch etc as that is gonna be ad ifinitum

I will just pretend that I know what you're talking about then and just smile and nod lol! :yes (I got that off of Madagascar lol! :lol)

Or you could look up ..

Its even the same color as mine ,he isnt replacing his fly wheel despite that scoring, and or pilot bushing.that will bite him.sand paper it .as scored as it with those heat spots, its a goner he will have problems .

I'm sorry but I still don't understand a word you're talking about as I don't understand cars, and this is all I hear. :lol

The knowledge is there, you just got to,want to learn,a possible change to a higher paying job with a field i know little about is coming .

I will have to get several licenses ,one is a water treatment c,the other is s California water license .I will work on pumps etc.mix chemicals etc.test.it means I have to learn because I want to .

Not the first time

the va will pay for that. well I will have to at first get the job, looks like just like the ase testing I had.
