Diets

Anyone know of any good ones? I've gotten awfully tubby. I developed this form of "depression" last year with low-grade paranoia and intense social phobia, so I ate from (and became obsessed with) fast food places. Weird thing is, I never liked fast food before. Now, I'm a Hardee's fanatic.

So, yeah, I gotta drop some pounds. I considered juice fasting (again), but I realized that God really hasn't called me to do that, and it'll make me crazy. I was thinking about trying to introduce more fruits, vegetables, and calorie-free beverages (I was thinking Rooibos/Red tea, since its sweet, caffeine-free, and doesn't require cream or sugar to be palatable) and starting some basic exercises. But then I hear people screaming about the joys of high protein diets. Also, my parents got me The Maker's Diet, which I don't understand. I don't want to sound skeptical, but the guy is on quackwatch. Has anyone benefited from it?

What worked for me was not a "diet" per se, but rather a combination of an intense exercise regimen, eliminating all junk food, and reducing carbohydate consumption.

I would not call my food plan a "diet" since I consume about 2000 calories per day.

I would suggest being careful about dieting and following a certain diet. For anything to really work, and to work for a long time, there must be a lifestyle change. It must not be viewed as a diet. If there is no lifestyle change, it becomes too easy to fall back into old habits once the diet is over, if it even reaches its goal.

The best thing to do is simply eat less, eat healthy (reduce carbs and keep most of them of the healthy variety, increase protein and veggies), exercise and get rest. And, of course, do as I say and not as I do. :D
