Yes, there's is a problem in right wing circles where everything under the sun is seen as woke. It's annoying.

That being said, most of the movies being pushed today are indeed woke in one form or another. I haven't been to the theater since 2019 because none of these movies appeal to be. Same with tv shows. I just don't care about gay this, first black that, trans this other thing.

The best film I've seen in quite some time was Top Gun Maverick. No politics, no wokeness. Just a damn good film. We need to get back to that.

I liked Maverick. There was some politics. Mav was put into the tea h8ng position because of automation, multiple threats to his position for his unorthodox methods, etc. It was a quality story.


I think the big problem is that everything is markets. Disney, Fox, Universal, and Sony own almost everything. So every movie needs to make bank. Plus Fisney has a death grip on tons of theaters. Disney has had some decent films, but the Marvel franchise is getting pretty big for its britches. It's now a media train that has to pump movies out fast to keep the train going.

I stated you have the right to not watch it. My point was that calling a movie woke for the brief scene is weird. It seems that it's a confirmation bias more than acknowledging that the movie had more problems then just the kiss.

It’s not any more than 2 minutes of raw porn in an otherwise non-porn film is weird. There are movies where one seductive scene for 30 seconds dirties the minds of viewers. Reminds me of a serial killer who said 99% of the time he is a kind and good man. Only 1% of his time is spend murdering people.

There have been successful movies with "woke" content. I mentioned Wakanda Forever and the Owl House. Black Panther 2 for its focus on a black female lead and cast, and The Owl house that has a female couple as the main Characters.

So?

I don't think you understand what I was saying. The 2 other projects were woke theough and through. It was their central Pilar. Yet those projects did great, got high reviews, turn outs, awards, etc. If ho woke go broke is real, those projects should have failed.

They succeeded because they were good products.

Because they knew it was just going to be yet another woke film which is synonymous with mediocrity, and lo and behold.

The only alternative is to continue to double down on what already isn't working. Which is what Disney is doing with the announcement of three new Star Wars films. The train wreck will be more entertaining to watch than the films themselves.

I have seen both movies. Both scenes are barely a couple seconds long. The issue with Buzz was that no one really wanted a buzz lightyear movie. Reviewers thought it was okay, but the toy story franchise basicly ended with 3 for most people. 4 didn't do well either. strange worlds suffered from marketing. Most people who are fans of Pixar, including me, had no idea the movie was comming out. The movie was waved by a lot of fans as just average.

I'm pretty sure the kiss was not part of the marketing. The marketing was mostly just that we have....a buzz movie. I think Pixar over assumed how much people liked Buzz.

Spiderman was great, Moon Knight was hood. And I'm hyped for Guardians 3. Plus the Werewolf by night one shot was great. Finally hot my Man Thing on screen. Ted is awesome. I yh8nk phase 4 had more issues with trying to set up Kang. Loki was good, Multiverse of Madness felt like we should have had either another movie or.another season of Wanda Vision to set it up.

I think once we get a good team movie things will gall into place. I want Ghost Rider, Dr. Strange, Blade, Black Knight, and Blade to kick some paranormal but.

The only way we're going to get out of this mess is to eliminate ESG. Whether that's getting rid of it entirely or companies choosing to ignore it, either way, it has to happen.

Woke can best be described as artificial. I'll give you an example...

Judy Alvarez in Cyberpunk 2077 is one of my favorite characters in the game. She's well written, she has her own motivations, her own likes and dislikes, her reasons for being in Night City and eventually wanting to leave, etc.

She also happens to be gay. But it's written in such a natural and convincing way, that it feels like a normal part of her character. She likes girls. That's it. You're not beaten over the head with it over and over again throughout the game. This would be, in my opinion, a non-woke character and one that should be considered a high standard within fiction.

Compare and contrast with Steve Cortez from Mass Effect 3. This guy, his entire character including his character ark, is all about him being gay. He might as well have a bright neon sign above his head saying, "I'M GAY! LOOK AT ME! I'M SO GAY! COME TALK TO ME ABOUT MY GAYNESS!"

This would be, in my opinion, the example of how not to write a gay character in fiction. He has no original thoughts of his own, he has no desires that exist independent of his sexuality, and he has no motivations for any of the actions that he undertakes on his journey. On a more personal note, I would like to say that he has no buisness being on the SSV Normandy with the likes of legendary characters like Commander Shepard and Garrus Vakarian.

Steve is an example of a woke character. An artificial, phony, and rather pathetic excuse for a character that only exists to fill a box on a diversity and inclusion checklist. He is the only character that dies in the end as the result of me ignoring him throughout the journey and pretending that he doesn't exist. Because he shouldn't exist and neither should the woke ideology that produced him.

Ah, I remember from media stuff I looked into that what you described sounds like tokenism. Where a character is just a shallow representation. I'm not a fan of token characters myself. I ask for clarification since most people don't seem to have a decent definition.

I know that most LGBT people roll their eyes at tokenism. I like stories where the cast is diverse. I have read books that are written by Various minorities and it great see8ng a natural character. Matketing is stupid.

The studios do lots of marketing research. There's been a huge change in attitudes in the past few years and tolerating homosexuality is better business than suppressing it. The tantrums we see from homophobes is not because they think a minor mention of LGBTQ in a movie is harmful, but because it's a sign that public acceptance of it is growing.

And yes, right-wing snowflakery on the interwebs is growing about pretty much everything. Sometimes, it's just about craving attention.
