In I John 1:8, He is talking about human nature, and not the nature of God, because all believers take on God's nature after being born again. In other words our spirits take on the nature of God. Also, many unbelievers will admit to sin because of their pride. I will not call myself a sinner because it isn't the real me. If one calls himself an alcholic all the time, he will probbably drink again. Same principle applies to calling oneself a sinner. We should really study who we are in Christ to free us from sinning so much. Try it. It works.

Do you think Believers are sinners? I challenge you to find me one Scripture where it says that a Believer is called a sinner.
1 Tim 1:15 This is a faithful saying, and worthy of all acceptation, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners; of whom I am chief.

We don't take on God's NATURE, we partake in it. God shares Himself with us, even incompletely now. But we never take on God's nature. We will always be human, even though we are risen to a graced level.

Secondly, look at the context. It says nothing about "nature", but about how we walk (act) in our lives...

This then is the message which we have heard of him, and declare unto you, that God is light, and in him is no darkness at all. If we say that we have fellowship with him, and walk in darkness, we lie, and do not the truth: But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin. If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us [our] sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. If we say that we have not sinned, we make him a liar, and his word is not in us. 1 John 1: 5-10

By not admitting that you sin, how does that make you humble??? The Pharisees didn't think they sinned either - but Christ didn't buy it. If you made an examination of conscience, you'd find that you sin every day against the Law of Love. And don't forget, omitting to do something you should is ALSO a sin, according to St. James.

Thx. That pretty much puts a nail in the proverbial coffin.

I am sorry, but I will stick to positive confessions. For example: The Bible says that I am dead to sin. It says sin has no dominion over me. It says I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me. We can live a victorious life in Christ. I am the head and not the tail. We are a pecular people, which means we are God's private property. Do you hear me.

LOL, yeah I hear you. I just couldn't resist; it was a no-brainer. Personally for me, it is SO humbling for me to read Paul calling himself the chief of sinners.

Yes, Paul is something. The Book of Romans can be difficult if we don't understand that sometimes he is talking about our spirits, sometimes our souls, and sometimes our flesh. It really is amazing how the Holy Spirit has done such a work in Paul. Actually, I spend most of my time in the Pauline Epistles because there are about 200 or so In Christ's, through Christ's, and by Christ's. A lot of meat there.

Romans 7:18-24 (King James Version)

18For I know that in me (that is, in my flesh,) dwelleth no good thing: for to will is present with me; but how to perform that which is good I find not.

19For the good that I would I do not: but the evil which I would not, that I do.

20Now if I do that I would not, it is no more I that do it, but sin that dwelleth in me.

21I find then a law, that, when I would do good, evil is present with me.

22For I delight in the law of God after the inward man:

23But I see another law in my members, warring against the law of my mind, and bringing me into captivity to the law of sin which is in my members.

24O wretched man that I am! who shall deliver me from the body of this death?

So if you cheated on your wife you would tell her, "hun, that wasn't me sinning. I can't sin. It was just my flesh.". That's how you interpret Paul heh. :o

That is exactly what happens when a believer walks in the flesh; one fulfills the lust of the flesh. That is why a believer is exhorted to walk in the Spirit.

Here are some verses for you to study:

There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit. Romans 8:1

That the righteousness of the law might be fulfilled in us, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit. Romans 8:4

16 This I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh. 17 For the flesh lusteth against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh: and these are contrary the one to the other: so that ye cannot do the things that ye would. 18 But if ye be led of the Spirit, ye are not under the law. 19 Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these; Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness, 20 Idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies, 21 Envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told you in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God. 22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, 23 Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law. 24 And they that are Christ's have crucified the flesh with the affections and lusts. 25 If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit. This I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh. Galatians 5:16-25

My friend, you miss the whole point. I would rather be God conscience that sin conscience. The more the Word is dropped in my spirit the better I will be. I have faith in Jesus, and no faith in my flesh. Can't wait till I get my brand new Glorified Body. Jesus took every one of my sins at the cross, and buried them in hell, and rose again so I can have spiritual life. He is seated at the right hand of the Father interceding for me. I am washed clean by the Blood. Jesus did it all. I am joint Heir with Jesus, which means I can have everything He has. We will rule and reign with Him for one thousand years. Oh boy, I can see the holy of holies coming down from heaven. Praise God. I am preaching myself in a good mood. To Him be the Honor and Glory, worthy to be praised with a shout. Iam ptreaching my self silly. Is anyone listening? I love you Jesus.

May God bless, golfjack

No, I miss no point. I trust fully in Jesus to forgive my sins. But I don't sweep them under the rug and I take responsibility for them. This concept of pre-forgiven sin is ridiculous and unbiblical to boot.

This thread has gone to far off topic. If you want to discuss protestant doctrines such as OSAS please go to a different forum. I will be glad to participate there. I'm going to lock this one for a bit. Check back tommorrow if you have something to say on Catholic Divorce.
