Kids can be indoctrinated.
They usually are formed in character by the age of 5 and will not change much after that.

If a child has been going to McD's, or church, all his life, he'll be more likely to pick it up again at some point,,,,
if he never goes, the chances are he may not even like it.

I find it amazing babies cry at birth, they must know from the first breath life is going to be a struggle. Lol. They don't come out smiling and happy. When I took my first breath I cried and said God why did you send me here. Lol.

Not too much to be happy about.
They were very happy where they were.
Had a very long and difficult trip.
And that's pretty much how life will be.
Not being negative...just realistic.

I was trying to add a bit of humour so it didn't seem so negative. Lol. But it is realistic, it's not easy living in the flesh, we get sick, struggle, have ups and downs, all part of life.

Yes, all of the above.
I just want to add that we have to talk about Jesus a lot and make Him be respected by our kids and to make sure they understand that He loves them.

I mean, any moral person could be a good example.
We have to make sure that they understand we do what we do for God and that there's more to life than "just" being moral --- that we have to be moral because God said so and how only HE knows what's right and wrong.

I really dislike all this subjective stuff going on today - I can't even remember what it's called anymore. Subjective Morals?

God is the objective truth and truth can only BE objective or it's not truth.

Yes, of course.
God is the Father of us all.
He loved us so much, He died for us.
Just as I would my own children, especially Grand kids.
God left a book for us, instructions, to teach us, sent the Comforter also.
Also punish us when we do wrong.
Our heavenly Father...

Same reason why God gave you and me free will. He wants His children to choose to serve Him instead of being forced to. Otherwise their relationship with Him doesn't really mean all that much because their heart isn't in it.

You don't have to.
I struggle to answer those questions, but I understand where he is coming from.
That Christianity nas NOTHING, absolutly NOTHING to do with one 'feeling' they are Christian and Everything to do with Christianity being a reasoned choice (maybe influenced by emotion.)
If ones intended cannot talk reasonable about what and why they believe and won't learn dump them.

One of them is following the Lord wholeheartedly as an evangelical Christian along with his wife. His 2 children are solid Christians who plan to go to Bible college after an IT degree and work experience (now in 3rd year) and the other in one of the trades at the end of this calendar year.

Our school year follows the calendar year.

The other 2 are not serving the Lord and married non-Christians. One spouse is rather resistant but the other 3 seem to be open and not antagonistic.

So let me get this straight,.. you have six children and only one is Christian while two are atheist and three are agnostic? Did I get all of that right?

Which scientific facts will you teach a 5-year-old?

How would you frame 'historical' so an 8-year-old will understand?

One of the things I find helpful is to speak to children not about the story of something in the Bible but about the event of, say, Noah and the flood, the event of Jesus and his resurrection.

Nobody can make a child (or an adult) love God. Parents teach a child about the love God has for them. Love generally begets live in a child.
We are to teach our children to pray, teach them what Jesus has done for each one of us. My children had their own bibles. My daughter is 49 and she still sleeps with that bible under her pillow. She can't read most words but she knows what's in it. They learned a bible verse each week, attended Church school and were very involved with the church. We prayed together and talked about God together.
My daughter's faith was very strong as a child, but it is not now, even though she still treasures that bible. God knows her heart.
My son, well God knows his heart too. My 8 year old granddaughter loves Jesus.
If a child knows Jesus they love Him.
We just have to pray for them for the rest of our lives and let them see we love God.

I can remember loving God as a child.
