I can't really figure this out but my TV has been doing some really weird things lately. Like the volume level changes all by itself and a little menu box occasionally pops up. :/ Has anybody else ever had this happen to them before?

Remote button might stick or controls on tv
Replace itThat's just the thing. I'm not even touching it and when I try to turn the volume down it doesn't do anything and it just got new batteries.
Replace it

Maybe or it could have a malfunction or a short somewhere. If it is a smart tv, I guess it could get hacked.
I agree replacing it is a good option.
If its the remote control, sometimes a bit of food gets caught under one of the buttons. Sometimes people spray cleaning chemicals near it, and some of it gets under one of the buttons. Sometimes the button just wears out from being pushed a lot.
Sometimes its the buttons on the TV itself. Often when someone sprays cleaning chemical too close to the button, or humidity in the air gets inside the button. Sometimes a button just goes for no apparent reason.
I had a computer keyboard where one of the keys was pressing itself. I think food or something got under the key. A new $10 keyboard solved the situation. TV remote controls are usually inexpensive. I bought several extra remotes when I bought my TV sets, to make sure I had the right model remote available.
You can tell if its the remote by taking the batteries out for a few days, and using the buttons on the TV to turn it on and change the volume. If that solves the situation, its probably the remote.
Or...
Stray radio signals from something else is hitting your set. Garage door opener can do it
I used to change neighbors tv with mineNo I don't have a smart TV but I have heard about those getting hacked before.
