And not just straight men. I've seen far worse in the homosexual community than I have in the heterosexual community. But...that said....

...do you think most men go for partners considerably younger than them? Do you think its social or biological? Both?

See, I was thinking about it today. Back in the day, women were very low status. That's one reason Paul made all those marriage restrictions. I always thought men dumping women to chase after a younger woman was an affluent male thing to do, but then one of my friends (not affluent) told me about some women that had happened to. So, I'm thinking its just human nature. Which would also explain why pagan societies were cool with it, since they pretty much celebrated human nature (poor over rich, strong over weak, men over women, so on and so forth).

It could also be social, now that I think about it. If you have money and freedom, why not get a younger partner (with less power, presumably) every now and then? Look at female celebs who go for younger (and less affluent and powerful) men. I guess if you get enough monies and power, you figure....who cares? I dunno.

Thoughts?

Not the smart ones.

I can't even imagine hooking up married to someone that had the same ambitions I did when I was young. To me "equally yoked" goes much further than just finding someone that is a Christian. Men's desires are driven by their eyes, women by their hearts, but common sense should factor in there somewhere, and as we grow spiritually, love and not lust should govern our selections.

I think there are a lot of men who could look longingly at a woman who is 20 years younger. It would charge his self esteem. He could pass her around to his friends and say "Look what I have".Men marry their wives and they are in their 20's or 30's and as time goes by they get older. They are no longer going to have the cute tiny figure and the beautiful skin. And then the grass sometimes looks greener on the other side.I am not saying this is the case for all men but for many.

It would seem from my observation that men prefer younger women, and it's probably nature doing that. I guess the way God created us.

As for me, in my younger days, I'd prefer and date women an average of 10 years older than I was. I don't think many of them thought I was serious, albeit they were flattered, especially if they had kids and divorced and felt they were out of the dating loop. I felt at the time women my age were too superficial, worldly minded, and status concerned and I did not want the competition, which was not there with an older woman -- just appreciation and deeper conversations because they had more life experience. However, for a young 20-something guy, they were usually intrigued at the insightful thoughts I had about life and spirituality, and ironically, sometimes we even reversed the age roles as if I was the guide. Go figure.

Ultimately, it seems these women were the hardest on themselves, and like I said could not take things seriously to really believe they may be loved by such a guy, and then go to the the older ones who I felt were less appreciative and took them more for granted. So those relationships never went anywhere because women back then "just did not marry a younger guy". My wife is the "youngest" I ever remember dating and she's 4 months older and graduated a year ahead of me from HS. Not really "older" than me, but I tease her when she reaches her milestones a little before me. :lol

When I was young I liked dating older guys.It just seemed to me that the guys my age seemed more immature.

gosh, I married a cougar, lol and I have a friend that is a cougar. I teased her when I found out she was married to a man aged 28. she was like what? I told her my age when I marred to my wife was 28 and my wife was 42.

You married a cougar? That must be an interesting relationship.

What does that have to do with being a cougar?
that is the slang for that. some women are predators as far as men are with young persons. in this country we call women a cougar if she does what a man does. I think that is wrong but I do joke about it.

Hmmm....never heard of that.

A women's persona can make her very attractive, on the other hand I guess it is good for her to be very pleasing to you to look at. Hence the old adage love at first site.

I have dated some very attractive men.But on the inside......NO THANKS.I would rather give myself a manicure with a chainsaw. So what is the moral to that story?
