...any favourite charities? I like, every so often, to give money to people who can spend it better than me. At the moment, most of my donations go to the developing world, where the need is most, approximately equally to human, animal and vegetable causes.

Best wishes to all, 2RM.

I have to confess it has been some time since I last donated to anyone. But last time I was doing so it was to the persecuted church in other countries. I felt they truly needed. I was giving to Voice of the Martyrs. I used to give large amounts of money to churches and ministries in the US, but If I had that to do over again, I think I would have directed it elsewhere.

What is your church doing or what charities is your church involved with?

Ideas, look on line or at your supemarket for foodbanks working in your area, for collection points and just buy two or three of each item you normally buy and put in the collection point. As you prepare for your Christmas, prepare for extra donations for the food banks christmas and check out the Salvation army etc for volunteering at Christmas.

Check out Caring for Life, a Christian charity for disabled people based in leeds,
from the tv Countryfile there is 'children in need'
Christian charities like 'Tear fund', Barnabus fund' the 'samaritans purse shoebox appeal'

How about sending a Christmas gift to the missionaries your church supports, if it doesn't support any, ask why and keep asking untill a missionary is adopted.

Don't have a church, find one.

I'm afraid, on my budget, I have to take a rather hard-hearted attitude to developed world poverty. That really is an issue for our governments to resolve, in my opinion. But where there is literal starvation, and poor governance, simultaneously, I do what I can.

Best wishes, 2RM.

It is not governments that will help poor people, but Christianity and Christian missions.
lok at what this mission is doing:0

if you can find it read Matthew Parris's article, " Why as an Atheist I believe Africa needs Christianity."

Lastly regular giving can be boosted if you are a tax payer by completing a tax donation form, enabling your church or charity to claim back the tax you paid on that donation.

Need is everywhere and God has distributed His churches throughout the world. I believe He did this so each church can do its part right there where they are. For this reason, I try to help those right in my own community and local and let other churches do the same.

Why do so many of our churches think mission work needs to be outside our country's borders? Need is everywhere. There was a Christian pastor from a country in Africa that visited one of our local churches and he made a comment that gave me a chuckle at first but then my eyes were opened a little. He said that the churches in his country consider the US to be their mission. This is when it caught my attention and I realized that God put churches everywhere so our missions could be right in our own back yards.

I'm not saying that we should not give to help others from farther away for that too is good but we must remember not to neglect those right within arms reach. In our church we support about a dozen ministries and charitable organizations. Two of them are outside the US. One is an orphanage in India and the other is an orphanage in Kenya. The others are all right here in our local community.

God wants His church to be seen and known and what better place to do that then right where we are? Just my thoughts on this subject.

Now that I have a better job, I might start doing some donations, but I will be mainly to entities that help wild animals, specifically help with wolves and orcas.

My church does Operation Christmas Child every year. Other than that..... my charitable giving is often to individuals who are immediately in need.
My workplace has us fundraise for a variety of charities, too. My favorites are the ones targeted at preventing hunger that are also donating to local food banks.

Animal? Vegetable causes?
Don't you have a child crisis center in your area?
Or an orphanage?

Yes. I have a standing order to Spana, which provides veterinary services to working animals (mules, camels, horses etc). And another to Tree Aid which plants fruit and nut trees, thus providing food for the hungry along with employment opportunities. Not to mention that carbon fixed in trees does not contribute to climate change, Ultimately, both these charities contribute to the common, global, human good.

Best wishes, 2RM.

One other idea for us all . There are a few thrift stores in my area and they fund the local charities so my shopping there helps the less fortunate . And you may find a bargain plus you can donate your articles for resale .

Yes, animal and vegetable, causes. But ultimately, for the good of the impoverished. I tend to go for working animals, who still provide power to those without electricity, coal or gas. As for vegetables, it is hard to get one's recommended five portions a day when one is eking out a meagre existence on less than $2 per day.

Best wishes, 2RM.

Some good ones are Living Waters, Care Net, And Then There Were None, Love Line, and many of those websites have even more causes that they work with, too, which is kind of nice to see all what there is out there.

I support several bible translators and pray that God's work is translated accurately. People all over need bibles. Asia, Middle east, Africa are all places the church is undergoing persecution and fellow brothers and sisters in Christ have to go underground. Wycliffe has an interesting way to get out bibles. They invest in printing stations and tablets for their translators and print out a bible for the community on site. When they are ready to cross borders, they upload their work on the cloud and delete their tablets so that port security don't find anything or arrest them (as they apparently go incognito as other people). Being into tech myself, I found this a wonderful way to get the scriptures out to these people.

There are other things I support, such as Jewish people and the gospel there, too in Israel. I support Christian relief missions for hungry and catastrophes and some to abortion. On the latter, I also petition Congressmen and women occasionally. ALCJ is big on that. Once others find out the various missions and causes I support, I get many dozens of pleas a month to help. Alas, I can only pick out one or two extra here and there. I wish I could help everyone, but what I support may not be what another will support, so all will be dealt with by one person or another. One person can't do it all.

Hope this site qualifies! We’re up for renewal in a few months 😎

So don’t e shy in donating to our 2022 hosting fee campaign!

And we’re a true non-profit. We only collect what we need to keep the lights on around here and I am extremely transparent with the costs.

What little my husband and I can give goes to St. Jude Hospital and Salvation Army. The first of the month I will be adding CF as this site reaches the world with the word of God.
