Eh,.. I'm alright with it sometimes and sometimes I actually want it taken if it's for something special, but the reason why I'm posting this thread is because I am boycotting the fact that I shouldn't have to stop and pose for family photos if I don't want to (with the exception of a group shot) so I'm not going to anymore from this day forward. If somebody is taking a picture and I don't want to be a part of it I am leaving the room. Case closed. :hips (Sorry if it sounds like I'm annoyed right now it's because I am and I just had to let off a little bit of steam. It doesn't have anything to do with you guys though so I apologize. :sorry2x)

Oh and for the record I'm not really a hugger either but I like hugs a lot more than I did when I was a kid. I can't stand video cameras or kisses though unless they are from Joey. :yes

As much as i don't ,most people point, and shoot and can't actually use a camera .that said ,age is changing my,views on this .my,fil having health issues as I have very old photos of him is making me think ,one day all that I have of him, will be photos .86 ain't young .

This Xmas he gave a photo of his dad and mom to his son.his older sister, aged 92 had that and I knew the names as I too posses the photo,it predates ww2 ,roger lee and or a mae.I have cleaned their graves .I have found file news articles on them and today I pointed out where they once lived to,my,wife .its so old it has outdoor plumbing

I'm not a fan either...I don't do selfies.

But

There's a time and place for them... Christmas get-togethers of family and friends are one of those times.
Special events that are self defining are as well.

Various mission trips and vacations and evenings with my wife for the bill. I also like to have pictures of my son around. I just like looking at his picture if I can't talk to him.

With a few obvious exceptions, if and whenever we really do meet, I would probably let you get away with doing anything you wanted to around me lol!

I was never into having my picture taken. Maybe it all started in kindergarten when some adults made comments that I scrunch up my face to smile or others that pointed out my crooked teeth or all those weird school photos. Either way, I dislike photos. In high school especially I tried to avoid them. I ditched the school senior photo to hide out in the library with a friend.

I feel like I look awkward in photos. Maybe I try too hard. I also try not to show my teeth, but now I realize pics where I do look much better and my out of place tooth isn't noticeable.

These days I like having pictures of me with my family because one day I will wish I had them to look at. The kids grow up too fast and they may want a picture with their mom one day or want to know what they looked like as babies.

What I hate is when people take my picture without asking. I am more upset if people try taking pictures of my kids because they can end up on social media. I do not want that to happen because of the possible abuse with photos online and they should be able to choose when they are adults if they want their photo online.

I like taking photos but seldom will choose to have people as subjects, btw he best photos are when the subject isn't aware.

I,spend about two or more hours taking photos yesterday and the day before about one hour .old graves, and old rr bed made into a path

I'm not very photogenic so I don't like having my pic taken, but only on special occasions as group pics. I'm more the picture taker and usually when we are somewhere special I will have hubby take pics of me, but if I don't like them I will delete them. For family history buffs like myself it's good to have some pics of yourself taken.

As far as doing ancestries which I have done on every side of my family with one going back to 1486 I have come across pics of my GG Grandparents, GG Aunts and Uncles from the early and late 1800's. The cemetery where many of them are buried you can find the headstone for my 4xG Grandfather, 1725 - 1812 as these stones are written in German as the first Church was built in 1813 called the Dutch Reformed Church (Pennsylvania Dutch) and the sermons done in German. Here is a pic of my 3xG Grandfathers stone written in German and the church.

I think it's fun getting pictures taken. I just don't always like to look at the ones I'm in afterward their taken. But in the moments that pictures are talked about, those are usually happy moments, and I think sure lets take a picture.

Unfortunately this church is no longer standing. I really like the old architecture as you just don't see it being done today in all it's beauty.

Yeah, I think that's why I have problems with it is because a lot of the times it feels like they are forcing me to have my picture taken instead of being asked nicely. Speaking of which since it's something else that I mentioned on here, earlier on this strange lady of this business where I was geocaching at that was talking to me for awhile grabbed ahold of me and hugged me and kissed me three times on the head!! :angry3 Like what the heck I don't even know you!! :mad

I already stated that I'm not a big hugger and I don't generally like being kissed by friends and family so I certainly wouldn't like it from somebody I don't even know!! I mean she was friendly enough but man I was annoyed!!! :angry

I remember being a kid and adults would say, "Aw! Let me get a picture!!!" And it felt awkward to me and I didn't feel I had a choice.

I remember when I was 4 or 5, went to someone's house and they showed us this cool tree house they had. We went back inside and my parents were talking to their friends and being my childhood adventurous self I decided to wander off in their home. I opened a bathroom door and there was a boy in his swim trunks in the tub. I went in and hopped in the tub in my overalls and sat there. He stared at me, obviously not knowing what was going on. When the adults found me I thought, "Uh oh," but the woman that lived there got all excited and said, "Let me go get the camera!" Yes, there is unfortunately a picture floating around somewhere of this. It was awkward. I was sitting there soaked like, "I want to get out of the tub, but then again I don't," and the adults are all, "Awww!"

Sorry to hear about the strange woman that you encountered. Sounds like you said...strange.p

That's alright but yes it mostly was a very strange and horrible experience. :sad At least I also saw a raccoon in the woods hidden in a log. It was really cute. :)
