I think controversial theology can be healthy for the Church, in limited doses. Church history reveals many of our doctrinal formulations arose from theological controversy.

Not me, for most controverses are based upon NOT "rightly dividing the Word of Truth."

If controversial theology left me "shaking in my bones", I wouldn't be on these forums.

If we are all seeking truth and reality together, controversy must arise. That is no reason for anyone to feel uncomfortable (unless some participants become hostile, or personally attack someone, or arrogantly imply that anyone who disagrees with them is stupid, in which case they should be disciplined, and if they persist, ultimately removed).

We NEED controversial theology don't we. But it shouldn't leave us shaking in our bones unless our foundation is anything other than Christ.
