I am wondering if it is painful when you die?

.
Hi Sister Angel, this question brings all forms of thought to me in that we are kept, and not forsaken by God.

My thinking at the moment is that of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego in Dan 3:17. Our God whom we serve is able to deliver us from the burning fiery furnace, and he will deliver us out of thine hand, O king. What if we say to Satan, you intend this to harm me, but God ain't gonna let it happen?

Here my thoughts turn to Death, our last enemy which shall one day be destroyed we read of in 1 Cor 15:26, but then wait; Rom 6:4 says we are buried with Jesus by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father. We are alive now and walk in newness of life.

Dan 3:25 And then Nebuchadnezzar says: I see four men loose, walking in the midst of the fire, and they have no hurt; and the form of the fourth is like the Son of God. Are you kidding me? Jesus was with them? The very mighty men that cast them into the furnace were slain by the heat, and yet our Lord was with them so that the fire had no power, nor was an hair of their head singed, neither were their coats changed, nor the smell of fire had passed on them according to Dan 3:27.

Now if this wasn’t death in the sense we think of it, was it possibly one of those near death experiences we read of. My wife supposedly died on an operating table, saw herself peering down on her lifeless body, and was comforted from pain, and then awoke.

This year she had a blocked pancreas, infected gall bladder, and liver which produced Sepsis leaving her unable to even walk without falling. The fighter Mohammad Ali just died of the same thing, and yet my wife never had any pain as they operated on her to remove the blockage in her pancreas, remove the entire gall bladder, and a substantial portion of her infected liver.

I’m posting but a bit of the following verse of Heb 13:6, but I sincerely believe in all situations we may boldly say, The Lord is my helper, and I will not fear!!!

Good morning Angel
I guess it depends...
When I went, I felt nothing...
Cancer or other illness, I don't know, but they do have drugs that will help kill the pain.
The body works in mysterious ways, you can go in shock when things get too intense or lose conciousness.

I have witnessed death being very quiet and peaceful and again I have witnessed men thrashing about with the pain of it all. I will tell you that the entire thing depends on either the wounds or the method of death. My first heart incident took place in my Cardiologist's office on the treadmill, he instantly stopped me and the pain was nothing of concern. This last one brought tear to my eyes which brought tears to my wife's eye and between the tears from my pain and her watching me try levitating off my bed when it would magnify, I do not like seeing her cry and went to the ER for her.

My heart incident was sudden death, just passed out...felt nothing.

I think it all depends on how one dies. Some can be in horrific pain right up to the point of breathing their last breath and others just simply close their eyes never to open them again. My Grandmother had cancer and I moved in to help her until the day she passed on. She had her good days and bad days, but on the evening of her passing I was trying to feed her some supper when out of the blue she seemed so peaceful as I felt like all her cancer was leaving her body as she shut her eyes and breathed her last breath as she was so peaceful looking. So I would think right up to the point of the last breath there is no more pain or at least I would like to think so.

Hi Angel, here's a quote from Spurgeon. I thought you might like what he says....
Evening
“Into thine hand I commit my spirit: thou hast redeemed me, O Lord God of truth.”
- Psa_31:5
These words have been frequently used by holy men in their hour of departure. We may profitably consider them this evening. The object of the faithful man’s solicitude in life and death is not his body or his estate, but his spirit; this is his choice treasure-if this be safe, all is well. What is this mortal state compared with the soul? The believer commits his soul to the hand of his God; it came from him, it is his own, he has aforetime sustained it, he is able to keep it, and it is most fit that he should receive it. All things are safe in Jehovah’s hands; what we entrust to the Lord will be secure, both now and in that day of days towards which we are hastening. It is peaceful living, and glorious dying, to repose in the care of heaven. At all times we should commit our all to Jesus’ faithful hand; then, though life may hang on a thread, and adversities may multiply as the sands of the sea, our soul shall dwell at ease, and delight itself in quiet resting places.
“Thou hast redeemed me, O Lord God of truth.” Redemption is a solid basis for confidence. David had not known Calvary as we have done, but temporal redemption cheered him; and shall not eternal redemption yet more sweetly console us? Past deliverances are strong pleas for present assistance. What the Lord has done he will do again, for he changes not. He is faithful to his promises, and gracious to his saints; he will not turn away from his people.
“Though thou slay me I will trust,
Praise thee even from the dust,
Prove, and tell it as I prove,
Thine unutterable love.
Thou mayst chasten and correct,
But thou never canst neglect;
Since the ransom price is paid,
On thy love my hope is stay’d.”

Thanks :)

I guess the answer is sometimes it's painful, sometimes it's peaceful.

Thanks :)

For many folk, dying can be sudden as in a car wreck, plane crash, etc etc. I have witnessed several people who died of cancer. That is not a pleasing event at all. If it wasn't for morphine, they would be in terrible pain. I had an Aunt who died in her sleep. There were no signs that she was ill, she just laid down for a little nap, and didn't wake up. I've heard many folk tell me that that's how they want to die.

How ever we depart from this life to the next, for the Christian, our loving God oversees that journey. We can rest assured that Jesus will be right by our side because He won't leave us or forsake us, even in the process of dying. Praise the Name of Christ Jesus!!

Sister Angel, a friend gave this testimony. A woman in his congregation called another woman asking for some to come to her house and pray for her. She had been suffering with cancer for some time and when they arrived she asked for them to pray to have the Lord take her. Well my friend had no problem with that since we even read of Jesus praying I want this cup to pass away, but whatever You will, not what I will.

They prayed for her according to God’s will for her and a couple three minutes later she opened her eyes and asked: am I still here? Even though we’re to be looking for the soon coming of Jesus, he said he feels just like the woman that asked for prayer on many Monday mornings after waking. Am I still here Lord?

Maybe pain is only seen in the beholder huh?

I am so proud when Youth Teachers are brave enough to dig into subjects that the Youth will actually deal with and every one of us must, save being raptured, deal with this one. I am so tired of going to deal with unlearned people, young and old, at the VA because I must be so, stinking, careful of what I say to any of them.

If I dare to tell them I am tired and wish to go Home, they think I need to be committed because such conversation depresses them. People believe we are getting the best care the World has to offer but that is not, at all the truth. i.e. At Michael DeBakey there is one Practicing, Licensed Doctor over the department, the Supervisor everyone must consult, and the ¿Doctor? seeing me is a student that is serving his Clinicals and going to school the other half day at Medical College in Houston.

At the local VA Clinic I go to, most often, my doctor is a very nice, Mid to Late-twenties doctor. I am, unusually, fortunate because her parents migrated from India to NYC, where she was born and being Christians, but Indian, they did not glorify this life and, actually, taught her this life is nothing more than the selectable, path to Heaven or to the Lake of Fire and as a result, I have one doctor I can speak with without caution about my true feelings.

But people will learn this is, but, a path we travel or they will go, yes, to Hell for the Waiting Period but more importantly they will stand in front of the Great White Throne, the Seat of the Final Judgement before Eternal Judgement. People, simply, must forget the lie that the death of these carcasses is the end of life for it is not!

Brother @th1b,taylor, I have no doubt the suffering you experience as Christ's ambassador to them He sends you.
I read of Paul's and other's lives and sit in awe at the power of the Spirit they exhibited to continue the glory of our
Lord's mission to those He sent them. There's near a cliché that we are the only Jesus most will ever see, and just
experiencing your testimonies on these forums are a joy to me. We can only imagine how your witness may be
affecting the medical staff, and even then it is God giving the increase to it. When our Lord is ready, your race is
over, and the war won you will stand in the very presence of Him with the words: Well done, good and faithful servant;
thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things: enter thou into the joy of thy lord.

2Co 11:27 In weariness and painfulness, in watchings often, in hunger and thirst, in fastings often, in cold and nakedness.
2Co 11:30 If I must needs glory, I will glory of the things which concern mine infirmities.

Love you Bill in the precious name of Jesus. :hug

Boy do I hear you above, after going through painful slow agonizing wasting away deaths of many many friends, relatives, believers. Death is horrible. Just horrible. Whether it be quick or slow, it always brings us great pains and afflictions, even to watch it, because therein we also see our own eventual passing away from the flesh.

Scripture calls death an enemy, the last enemy, to be destroyed. God in Christ has promised an end to death, an end to sorrows, pain, tears. And I for one am very glad for those Promises. Were it not for that Hope, I'd have none hope whatsoever. Only the multitude of tears and afflictions of the soul, in utter vanity.

1 Corinthians 15:26
The last enemy that shall be destroyed is death.
