Does The Bible Talk Prosperity

What I like about Joel and he does a great job at it. And that is preaching love for each other. That is the part that I like about him.

I agree very much with Mike on Osteen. He may teach love, but he is the driving force behind the herresy that is the prosperity gospel. He is misleading so many a day.

Whenever I read Jude, I think of Joel Osteen.
Just have a look at this, this is the simple watering down the Gospel until it is not the Gospel anymore. I looked him up on youtube and have never once heard him preach on sin, only 'happiness' and what people want to hear.

2 Timothy 4:3-4 talks about Osteen:
3For the time will come when men will not put up with sound doctrine. Instead, to suit their own desires, they will gather around them a great number of teachers to say what their itching ears want to hear. 4They will turn their ears away from the truth and turn aside to myths.

Jason, Jessie & Joyce know what it is to suffer, Joyce went through getting raped by her dad until she was 18, she went through smoking cigs, and drinking. Jessie was a dope addict, they know what it is to suffer. Joel on the other hand did not go through all of that, but Joel does a great job, he is called to do the type of preaching that he does, he reaches millions of people.

during salvation. not before. we still suffer during. i used to listen to duplantis. my problem with him is way more of the of the name and claim it.
not that either didnt or doesnt know suffering, but that i dont recall either talking about the suffering that we will face.
i like my pastor as he lives the before me. when he errs its more likely i will see it and how he lives that way i know if he is real, and he is.

recenlty a teen was killed in an accident , a member of my church. his mom wasnt the perfect mother, but she repented and he was saved 4 days before his death. the pastor did an alter call and said that one may die this week and needs to repent as this may be his last chance. it was that boy who came forward.

when he was laid to rest, 75 souls came to christ at the funeral service.

that is what church should be about.

After watching the video in Nick's post, I clicked on one of the related video links at the bottom of the screen. It was a video of Joel Osteen preaching. Here is a transcript of part of it.

Joel Osteen said:
The Scripture says in Ephesians chapter one, verse four:

Long before God layed down earth's foundation, He had us on His mind. Because of the sacrifice Christ made, we are a free people. And not just barely free, but abundantly free. One translation says "unquestionably free".

I wonder what translation he's talking about. Here are a few versions of Ehpesians 1:4

NIV
For he chose us in him before the creation of the world to be holy and blameless in his sight.

NASB
just as He chose us in Him before the foundation of the world, that we would be holy and blameless before Him In love

KJV
According as he hath chosen us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before him in love

YLT
according as He did choose us in him before the foundation of the world, for our being holy and unblemished before Him, in love

Nothing there about being unquestionabely or abundantly free. Of course, he could have remembered the reference wrong so, to give him the benefit of the doubt, I did a word search on Bible Gateway for the word "free" within the Pauline epistles. The word "free" appears 25 times in Pauls writings, but none of those verses also mention the foundation of the world or anything comperable. Osteen simply made it up and claimed that the Bible stated that. Do we really want to get our teaching from people who are willing to insert their own doctrines into the Bible and claim that the apostles wrote them?

I've watche that video before. I just couldn't believe it! I posted it on Facebook and there was outrage by many of my Christian friends, warning others against Osteen. It's just unbelievable.

All I want to say about this topic is these prosperity teachers could learn a whole lot from just learning about Francis of Assisi. :yes Yes, he was RC, but not many throughout history have come as close to reflecting the work of our Savior as did Francis. :clap

Preach the Gospel at all times and when necessary use words.

The widespread corruption and injustice that exist in today's society can certainly make one think that "money is the root of all evil."

Money is not the root of all evil but loving it (instead of God) is.

For the love of money is the root of all evil: which while some coveted after, they have erred from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows.
(1Ti 6:10 KJV)
