Considering some reject certain stuff found in the bible...could God's Word really get outlandish or old-fashioned? Happy Weekend

The word of God will never go out of style.Although some try to doctor it up or try to read the verses to go their way.

How could treating people the way you want to be treated be outlandish or old-fashioned?

I say no.
.

Is it old fashion to love others as you love yourself. I don't think it's always easy but it's not old fashioned or out dated.

The Golden Rule is never outdated or old fashioned.
In a Baptist Forum on another website I have been told My view on the Bible and that some verses in the Bible are outdated and not applicable for today. Almost universally, these folks are under forty and tend not to pay attention to the context of the scriptures.

I feel this has more to do with the success of the Heresy Teachers success than their charisma. They must have a lethal dose charisma to hold it together but I know when I was first converted I read my Bible like it would be taken away from me the next day and everywhere I went I had my radio tuned to Christian Radio and I watched Christian TV more than anything else.

I was and am a peculiar worm because I would read the chapter or the book the Key Verse or Verses were drawn from and loving the interaction with the Holy spirit, what I heard and saw more oft than not upset the dickens out of the Spirit of God. I was taught to explore and to discover, being schooled before the nineteen-sixties but today instruction of our young people is primarily Rote Memory. the only thing I recall being taught in this style in the fifties was the Multiplication Tables making Context absolutely necessary because we absolutely had to spend time read the text, even in our Math Books to earn passing grade.

I know, from study, that every word of the scriptures is and will remain applicable to our lives but it makes me very sad that so many are opening the Bible but have never and will never read it to find God's intended application to our lives.

Thanks . The modern day preachers seemed to have deliberately tuned the bible out of order.

God is never changing as He is the same yesterday, today and forever and His word has always stood the test of time so why do so many not believe that which God has already done and said of that which is yet to come and be finished. People will always try to justify their beliefs by twisting the word of God to that of what they want it to say, :nono

Exactly.Take ten people and give them one verse of Scripture and you will get 10 different interpretations.

What is the good old way? The right way in most cases. I think even scripture says that. I am old school and proud of it.

The road less traveled is the right road. I don't mind being called old fashioned, I can twist that into a compliment very easily. It makes me feel good. Who cares what the world thinks.

Rom 12:2 And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.

That's right Kathi as there is only one word of God, but to many man made doctrines that are taught through traditions that like to twist and change it to make it their own interpretation.

Edward, I am old school too and as the saying goes, if it isn't broke then don't try to fix it.

Too many religions want to Spiritualize Scripture and not read it literally and how it is intended.

Gods word is very literal in parts and Spiritual in other parts as the prophetic of the literal being the literal at times being a shadow of the prophetic that has been fulfilled and that which has not yet been fulfilled.

Yes,but I feel that whenever intended it should be taken literally.I know that is difficult in some books such as Revelation.

The word of God should always be taken literal and that of the Spiritual can only be revealed by the Holy Spirit for our understanding.

Agreed, why God choose to bless our Church Family with a complete Bible teaching Pastor is a question I've never asked vnor been sorry about. This youngster believes in the context of the entire Word and is still Fostering children in trouble. He is just as silly as I am and believes, period.
